Hi everyone,
I'm looking to get into vlogging and want to use my Sony mirrorless camera. Does anyone have recommendations on the best Sony lens for vlogging?
I'm looking for a versatile lens that will allow me to capture high-quality video in a variety of situations - indoors, outdoors, in low light, etc. Autofocus performance is really important to me. I'd also prefer a lens that provides a wide field of view so I can keep the camera at arm's length and still fit my face in the frame.
Size and weight are considerations too, as I don't want an overly large or heavy lens if I'm going to be carrying the camera a lot for vlogging.
I'd love to hear your suggestions on the best Sony vlogging lens that meets these criteria. Please share your experience and example footage if you can.
You may take a look at Sony FE 20-70mm f/4 G Lens, a compact and lightweight lens for vlogging. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Sony+FE+20+70mm+Lens&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50
Caught up on the thread and honestly... I'm pretty disappointed with the current lens lineup for what we actually need as vloggers. I've been doing this for years and every 'perfect' lens I've bought ended up being a letdown. One was too heavy for my DIY cage setup, and the other had such bad focus breathing it made my viewers dizzy... was not as good as expected for the price. Before I jump in with what actually survived my field tests, I kinda need to know:
I've had great success using the Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM for vlogging. It's a prime lens, so you get exceptional sharpness and that beautiful bokeh effect. The wide f/1.4 aperture is fantastic for low-light situations, and the 24mm focal length is wide enough for most vlogging scenarios without being too distorted. It's compact and lightweight too, which is a big plus for handheld vlogging.
The 20-70mm F4 is a versatile lens for video, ideal for general use. It's my top recommendation. However, if you have a studio setup with a specific focal length in mind, a prime lens could be a suitable alternative.
