What is the best controller charging station for PS5 and PS5 Pro?

Hey everyone! With the PS5 Pro finally joining my setup, I’m looking to finally deal with the cable clutter on my desk. I’ve currently got two DualSense controllers (the standard one and an Edge), and I’m tired of constantly swapping USB-C cables back and forth. I really want a dedicated charging station that keeps everything tidy and ready to go for long sessions.

I’ve been looking at the official Sony DualSense Charging Station because the "click-in" design seems the most secure, but I’ve heard some people say it can be a bit finicky to line up the pins perfectly when you're in a hurry. On the flip side, I see brands like Razer and PowerA offering docks with cool aesthetic lighting or more compact footprints, which would be great for my limited shelf space.

One thing I’m worried about is the fit—I want to make sure the station is stable enough that the controllers won't get knocked off easily if I bump the entertainment center. Also, does anyone know if certain docks handle the extra weight of the DualSense Edge better than others?

What are you guys using for your PS5 or Pro setups? Is the official Sony one still the gold standard, or is there a third-party dock that’s actually more reliable and worth the money?

I went through this last year and honestly, OIVO PS5 Controller Charging Station with 2-Hour Fast Charging is super cheap and lowkey holds my heavy Edge perfectly!

> What is the best controller charging station for PS5 and PS5 Pro? In my experience, Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Charging Station is the GOAT. I've tried many; it fits the heavier Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge Wireless Controller perfectly. Seriously, it wont drop them.

Hmm, I've had a different experience. I'm always cautious with those tiny pins on the Sony dock—they feel fragile! Honestly, I’d suggest the PowerA Twin Charging Station for DualSense instead. The click-down mechanism is AMAZING and feels much more secure for heavier controllers. It’s super stable and literally won’t budge if you bump the table!! Definitely a safer, more reliable option for your setup imo. cheers!

tbh the cable clutter is literally the bane of my existence. ive spent so much time worrying about whether these docks are gonna mess up my controllers... especially the edge since it costs a fortune. had a bad experience back in the day where a cheap stand actually melted a port on me so i'm super paranoid now. honestly though there are so many new ones coming out for the pro that its hard to keep track. i saw a really good breakdown on reddit the other day that compared like ten different brands for stability and pin alignment. you should probably just search 'ps5 charging station reddit 2024' and look at the top threads there... people get really technical about the voltage and stuff which is exactly what i look for. it's much better than just guessing which one wont tip over if the cat jumps on the desk.

To add to the point above: honestly, I'm in the exact same boat as you and it's been so frustrating!

  • Ive been dealing with a total mess of cables for like three months now and I still cant pull the trigger on a dock because I'm just so paranoid about frying my battery...
  • It's been a long-term struggle since I got my Sony DualSense Edge Wireless Controller... I just want something that works and wont melt my ports or tip over!
  • The hunt for something stable that handles the extra weight without being a flimsy piece of plastic is actually insane! It's been a nightmare trying to find an amazing solution since everything feels so risky tho... I've seen way too many bad docks over the years!

Honestly, after seeing a few of my buddies deal with fried controller batteries, I've become super paranoid about anything that isnt using the proper charging contact points on the bottom. Over the years, ive tried some of those flashy third-party ones that look like a spaceship with all the LEDs, but honestly, some of them feel so lightweight that a stiff breeze would knock your Edge controller right off. One thing to really watch out for is any dock that forces you to plug into the actual USB-C port on top. It just adds so much wear and tear every time you dock it, and since the Edge is a bit beefier, it puts weird leverage on that port if it doesnt sit perfectly flush. In my experience, if the dock doesnt have some actual weight in the base, you're gonna regret it when you accidentally bump your desk and see an expensive controller hit the floor. Reliability over aesthetics every single time, ngl... just my two cents after breaking a port back in the day.

Wow ok that changes things. Gonna have to rethink my approach now.
