Ive been gaming on Sony consoles basically forever and I thought I had my audio setup dialed in but this PS5 3D audio stuff is driving me crazy. Ive tried using my old reliable wired setup with a decent DAC but the Tempest engine just makes everything sound so hollow and muddy like Im listening through a long metal pipe or something. Im honestly super frustrated because I spent a ton on this setup and it worked fine on PS4 but now it just feels off and I cant get the positioning right in games like Apex or even the newer Horizon. I need a real upgrade that actually takes advantage of the tech without the weird distortion.
Heres what Im looking for:
I looked at the Pulse 3D ones but people say the build quality is kinda cheap and the mic is trash so Im hesitant. Does anyone have a suggestion that isnt just marketing hype? I need something that actually delivers on that spatial sound promise...
Wait, you playing Apex or cinematic stuff more? Drivers handle Tempest frequency differently!
You might want to consider that the Tempest engine relies heavily on HRTF profiles, so make sure to cycle through all five settings in the PS5 audio menu first. Be careful with wireless sets that have their own proprietary spatial processing, because double-processing the audio usually leads to that weird tinny distortion. Also, if you have a big dome, watch out for stiff headbands.
