Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and secured my PS5 Pro, and I’m beyond hyped to see what PSSR and the upgraded GPU can actually do for my library. However, now that I’ve spent the big bucks on the console itself, I’m realizing it’s a bit of a 'bare-bones' experience out of the box.

I’ve already factored in the cost of the separate disc drive and the vertical stand since those aren't included, but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything that would truly elevate the experience. My current internal storage is already looking cramped with my digital library, so I'm looking at M.2 SSD expansions—does anyone have a preference for one that handles the Pro's speed best? Also, I’m debating if I should finally upgrade to the DualSense Edge or if the standard controller is sufficient for the new enhancements. I'm playing on a 4K 120Hz OLED, so I want to ensure my cables and peripherals aren't creating a bottleneck.

I have about $250-300 left in my setup budget. For those of you who have already optimized your Pro setup, what are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend to get the most out of this beast?

In my experience, WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB NVMe SSD vs Samsung 990 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD.
- Pros: WD is safer
- Cons: Samsung might fail...
Best choice: WD. Just be careful with ur install!

yo, congrats on the Pro!! i've been around the block with consoles for years but i'm still kinda learning the ropes with these M.2 speeds myself tbh. for your situation, i'd say focus on the storage first because that digital library is only gonna get bigger with those massive Pro patches... actually, i had some issues with the more common drives running way too hot in the past, so i'd recommend the Seagate FireCuda 530 2TB NVMe SSD with Heatsink. it's seriously fast and the endurance rating is way higher than most other drives, which basically means it'll last forever. plus, that heatsink is super chunky and fits perfectly in the slot without any rattling. about the controller... i finally caved and bought the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller but i was honestly kinda disappointed with it. the back paddles are awesome for competitive games, but the battery life is just not as good as expected... it's actually worse than the regular one lol. if u really want those custom sticks and trigger stops, go for it, but for $200, it's a tough sell if u aren't a hardcore sweat. the standard DualSense Wireless Controller is actually totally fine for most of the new enhancements. and since youre on a 120Hz OLED, make sure ur using a legit cable. the one in the box is okay but if u need more length or a spare, grab a Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable. i've seen so many people buy cheap cables that cant actually handle the full bandwidth and it's such a bummer to see the screen flicker. so yeah, get the storage first, then the cable, and maybe think twice about the Edge. good luck!!

honestly its ridiculous that we even have to have this conversation after dropping $700 on a console. Like someone mentioned, the fact it doesnt even come with a stand or a disc drive is such a scam... it drives me crazy how these companies just keep nickel and diming us. I remember when you bought a Pro version of something and it actually felt complete. Now? You spend a fortune and then have to stress about whether your extra storage is gonna overheat or if some cable is gonna bottleneck the whole thing. I've had so many issues with premium gear failing on me lately that I'm honestly terrified to touch anything in my Pro yet. You gotta be so careful these days because quality control feels like it's gone off a cliff. Every time I think I'm finished setting up, there's another hidden cost or another piece of plastic I need to buy just to make the thing sit upright. Its exhausting trying to stay on top of it all without getting ripped off.
