Finally got a PS5 last week and my controllers are always dying because I forget to plug them in. I looked at the official Sony dock but people say the clicking mechanism is kinda finicky and hard to line up in the dark. Then I saw the Razer one which looks nice but its like $30 for just one controller? I need to charge two at once. My budget is strictly under 40 bucks.

Requirements:

  • must charge two controllers
  • has to be stable (cat knocks stuff over)
  • no bright LEDs if possible because its in my bedroom

Are there any sleeper hits on Amazon that actually last? I dont want to fry my batteries with a cheap knockoff...

Regarding what #2 said about "Been thinking about your setup and honestly, you..." i totally agree. Heat kills. In my experience, the NexiGo PS5 DualSense Charging Station is a tank and won't tip. Another solid pick is the Fosmon PS5 Controller Charging Dock for a stealthy look. TL;DR: NexiGo is stable, Fosmon is discrete. Both stay cool and wont keep you awake.

tl;dr: Grab the HyperX ChargePlay Duo for PS5. Its weighted, stable, and doesnt have those blinding LEDs that keep you up at night. Honestly, i went through the exact same thing with my cat knocking stuff off the media console. Most of the cheap ones on amazon feel like empty plastic shells, but the HyperX dock is actually pretty dense and stays put. I tried the official sony one at a friends house and yeah... trying to line up those tiny pins in the dark is a total nightmare. This dock has a much more satisfying click-in feel. You can usually find it for around $25-30 which is well under your budget. The best part is the lighting situation. Blinding glowing bars are nonexistent here; you just get small, subtle icons on the front that wont turn your bedroom into a rave while youre trying to sleep. Another solid choice is the PowerA Twin Charging Station for DualSense. Since it is officially licensed by Sony, you dont have to worry about it frying your controllers or messing up the battery cycles. These use the charging pins on the bottom rather than the usb port on top, which is way more durable for the long haul. Im super satisfied with the HyperX tho, no complaints after a year of heavy use. Definitely a sleeper hit compared to the overpriced razer stuff.

Been thinking about your setup and honestly, you gotta look at the technical side of how these things draw power. I used to use a generic vertical stand but noticed my controllers were getting weirdly warm, so I hooked up a power meter to check the draw. Most cheap ones are just straight-through power with no regulation. I eventually swapped to the OIVO PS5 Charging Station with Upgraded Copper Contacts because it has a dedicated smart chip to handle the handshake with the PS5 controllers. It uses the bottom pogo pins which is way better for the longevity of the ports. My cat is a total menace but this dock has a rubberized base and low center of gravity so it stays put. The lights are subtle enough they dont bug me at night. TL;DR: Get the OIVO dock. It uses the bottom pins, has a smart chip to protect your batteries, and is heavy enough to survive a cat.
