I'm finally upgrading to a PS5 Pro and need a new TV to match. Looking for something that fully supports 4K/120Hz, VRR, and has low input lag. Budget is around $1000-1500.

Honestly, before you jump on the OLED bandwagon like the others, how many hours a day are you actually planning to use this for gaming? If you're someone who grinds games with static HUDs for 5+ hours daily, you realy need to consider the long-term reliability of the panel. OLEDs are great for contrast, but luminance decay and burn-in are still valid risks for heavy users, even with modern mitigation tech. If you want something that'll last 5-10 years without having to baby it, you might want to look at a high-end Mini-LED instead. Something like the Sony BRAVIA 7 Mini-LED fits your budget and basically eliminates the burn-in concern while hitting much higher peak brightness for HDR. Quick tip: always check if the TV has a dedicated heatsink. Better thermal management is the #1 way to ensure the electronics and panel don't develop wierd artifacts or dimming over time. Definately worth the peace of mind.

Just picked up the LG C4 OLED 65" for my PS5 Pro and it's been incredible. The 120Hz VRR support is flawless, and the OLED blacks make games like Spider-Man 2 look absolutely stunning. Found mine for around $1400 during a sale. The Game Optimizer settings are perfect for console gaming - just plug and play basically. Only downside is potential burn-in if you leave static UI elements up for hours, but I haven't had issues yet.

I've been going down a massive rabbit hole of market reviews and brand comparisons lately because I just went through this whole process myself. Honestly, before you settle on a specific panel, how much light does youre room actually get? I found out the hard way that a lot of these comparisons mean nothing if you've got a giant window right behind your couch or something. When I was doing my research, I noticed some pretty clear trends across the big brands:

  • Sony usually has the best processing for that smooth look but you definitely pay a premium for the name.
  • Samsung and LG seem to be more aggressive with gaming-specific features to win over console players.
  • The mid-range brands are catching up fast, basically offering almost the same specs for way less money. I basically spent weeks looking at side-by-side specs and eventually realized that the numbers on paper dont always translate to real world use. In my current setup, I learned that the interface and how it handles reflections mattered way more than I thought it would. So basically, is your gaming space usually pitch black or do you have a lot of natural light to deal with?

Coming back to this... been nerding out over the PS5 Pro specs and im honestly so satisfied with the current Mini-LED stuff. Quick question tho before I dive deeper, whats your room layout like? Like do you play in total darkness or is there a window right there? Huge for picking the right nit count. If you want something that isnt an OLED but still hits those high specs:
