Looking to upgrade my gaming setup and wondering what OLED TV pairs best with the PS5? Gaming performance is my priority - need great input lag, VRR support, and smooth 120Hz gameplay. Picture quality for movies is important too. Budget is around $1500-2000 for 65". Any PS5 owners here have experience with these models? Which one would you recommend and why?

I use the LG C5 OLED TV, the image quality is great.

For most gamers, the LG C4 is a fantastic option, offering many of the features you’d expect from an OLED TV but usually at a more accessible price point than the premium Sony models. It’s been widely recommended in the gaming community due to its excellent motion handling, effective gaming modes, and overall picture quality. While some might prefer a manufacturer-matched ecosystem, the C1’s performance for PS5 titles makes it one of the best all-around OLED TVs for gaming.

Did this last week, worked perfectly

I totally agree with Bradleylib that the technical gap between traditional WOLED and the newer QD-OLED stuff is huge, but honestly I have this exact same issue and it is driving me crazy. I have been researching the specific peak brightness sustaining rates and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth bottlenecks for like four months now and I still havent found a clear winner that fits the budget. It is seriously frustrating because every lab test I read just makes the choice harder... I am still stuck with my old screen because I just cant decide. Been looking at spreadsheets of nits and color volume data for weeks and I am still no closer to an answer than when I started.

Honestly, if you want the absolute best bang for your buck technical-wise, you should check out the Samsung S90C or the newer Samsung S90D. While everyone usually jumps to LG, the QD-OLED tech in the Samsung models gives you significantly higher peak brightness and color volume for basically the same price or less if you find a deal. If you are okay with a bit of a DIY approach to save cash, here is what I did to max out my PS5 setup:

  • Look for open-box units at big box stores because you can often snag a 65 inch for under 1300 dollars if you inspect the panel yourself for burn-in.
  • Use a service menu remote to tweak the HDR settings if you want to get past the factory dimming limits, though that is a bit of a rabbit hole.
  • Manually calibrate the HDR using the PS5 system-level tools rather than just relying on the HGIG preset which can be hit or miss. The S90C has 144Hz support which is overkill for PS5 but ensures the 120Hz mode is rock solid with zero screen tearing. Tbh, the input lag on these is insanely low, like under 10ms in game mode. It is basically the smartest way to get flagship performance without the Sony tax. Who needs a professional calibrator when you can just geek out on the settings yourself?
