I recently picked up the Sony ZV-1 II for my travel vlogs, and I’m absolutely loving that new 18-50mm wider lens! However, I’ve noticed the battery drains pretty fast when shooting in 4K, and I'm struggling with the lack of a built-in ND filter compared to the original model. I'm looking for recommendations on a compact filter system that won't add too much bulk, and maybe a more ergonomic grip than the standard Sony one. I’ve been eyeing some SmallRig cages and spare NP-BX1 batteries, but I’m curious about what’s actually essential for a daily setup. What specific accessories are you guys using to solve the battery and lighting issues without sacrificing portability?

late to the party but honestly, skip the pricey sony spares. i basically live off the Wasabi Power Battery 2-Pack and Dual Charger for Sony NP-BX1 which is like $25—huge savings!! for the ND issue, the NEEWER 52mm Variable ND Filter ND2-ND400 is a solid $20 pick that works for travel. just be careful with those cheap threads... make sure they're on tight so you dont lose 'em. gl!!

So basically, the lack of a built-in ND filter on the ZV-1 II is the trade-off Sony made to give us that *actually* wide 18mm lens. It matters because without it, your 4K footage looks super choppy in daylight since you can't hit that 180-degree shutter rule. I've been experimenting with a few setups and found a way to keep it low-key and portable. Here’s what I’d recommend for a daily setup:
* MagFilter Magnetic Filter Adapter 52mm – This is way thinner than standard adapters and lets you snap filters on and off instantly. * Hoya 52mm Variable Density II Filter – Really high-quality glass that doesn't mess with your colors too much.
* Ulanzi BG-4 5000mAh Power Bank Handgrip – Honestly, this is a lifesaver. It’s a grip and an external battery in one, so you can charge while recording. That power bank grip is literally the move if you're worried about those tiny batteries dying mid-vlog. It makes the ergonomics so much better too. Hope this helps! 👍
