Fujifilm has just released the 100VI, so is there any news and rumors about Sony RX1R III ?
honestly there is zero news and it is super disappointing. sony seems to have totally moved on from the rx1 line which is a huge bummer for anyone who wants that specific form factor. if you're tired of waiting like i am, you're better off just putting together a diy compact rig yourself.
Just catching up on this thread and @iamuzair - good point! Sony is definitely taking their sweet time with this one. It is kinda wild how long we have been waiting, but honestly I am still so satisfied with my current setup that I am not in a massive rush. No complaints here, their tech usually holds up for years anyway. Just curious tho, what is it about the Sony that has you holding out instead of just jumping on the Fuji hype train? Are you specifically looking for that full-frame look, or is it more about the Sony interface and glass? Also, does it absolutely have to be a fixed lens for you, or are you open to other compact systems that might be a bit more versatile?
Maybe in late 2024 or early 2025. I think Sony will not lose this market.
> Fujifilm has just released the 100VI, so is there any news and rumors about Sony RX1R III ? I remember when I was first getting into high-end gear, I spent literal months just refreshing pages every hour because I was so paranoid about buying something right before a replacement came out. I actually got burned once buying a body that got replaced two weeks later... it was super frustrating so you might want to be careful with the hype. Tbh, if you want the most reliable info, there is a specific site that tracks every single patent and registration. I saw a super deep dive video on it last night... just search for rx1r iii rumors 2024 on youtube and its basically the first result. It goes into the registration codes and stuff which feels a lot more solid than just guessing. I would suggest just sticking to those rumor aggregators or even checking the manufacturer newsroom every morning... that is what I do now to avoid making another expensive mistake.
