Honestly, I am right there with you guys on the sticker shock, but what really gets me is the constant gear churn. In my experience with the RX line, Sony loves to tweak the form factor or the ports just enough so your old thumb grips and cables dont fit anymore. It drives me absolutely nuts... I have tried so many setups over the years and it feels like I am always starting from zero compatibility-wise whenever a new body drops. Why do they do this to us? It is like they want our drawers full of useless proprietary plastic bits. Anyway, if you are definitely going for it despite the price, make sure you have got the fast media and extra power ready since these high-res sensors are brutal on old tech:

Just catching up on this thread... before you hit that buy button, what kind of shooting are you actually planning to do with it? Like, are you upgrading from the previous version or coming from a totally different system? I'm asking because I've held onto my current setup for years and what I learned is that reliability is way more important than the initial hype. When I first got my main compact, I was stressed about the fixed lens and the price tag, but its been a workhorse. It’s handled dusty trails and rainy street sessions without ever failing me once. Still, I’m always a bit wary of being in the first wave of pre-orders because of potential early bugs. If you tell me a bit more about what you need it for, I can try to help you figure out if jumping in now is the move or if it’s better to wait a bit.
