Ive been shooting on full frame for ages but just bought an RX100 VII for my Japan trip next week and honestly Im panicking about the battery life and how slippery the body feels. Its so small. What are the absolute must-have accessories for travel that wont blow my remaining budget?

To add to the point above: are you shooting video or mostly stills?

Listen, I totally get the panic. Ive been using the RX100 series since the mark iii and they are basically like holding a wet bar of soap if you dont have a grip on there. Its terrifying to think about dropping such an expensive little thing in the middle of a busy street. First thing you absolutely need is the Sony AG-R2 Attachment Grip. Its cheap and literally just sticks to the front with adhesive but it completely changes how the camera feels in your hand. I wouldnt dream of using mine without it honestly. For the battery anxiety... yeah its real. In my experience shooting around places like Tokyo, you will be lucky to get half a day if you are doing any 4k video or using the pop-up EVF a lot. I always carry the Sony ACC-TRDCX Travel DC Charger Kit because it comes with a spare and the charger is tiny. Over the years I tried the cheap third party batteries to save a buck but they tend to swell or lose charge fast, so stick with the originals if you can swing it for the reliability. Also dont forget a screen protector. I use the Sony PCK-LG1 Screen Protector Glass because those screens are notorious for scratching easily in a pocket or bag. Throw on a decent wrist strap too, ngl the one in the box is kinda flimsy. Its all about that peace of mind when youre weaving through crowds... you just want to focus on the shot.

> honestly Im panicking about the battery life and how slippery the body feels Just saw this thread and yeah, those little things are basically expensive pebbles. Since youre worried about the budget after buying the camera, are you planning on doing a lot of 4K video or mostly just snapping photos while youre out there? Video eats those tiny batteries way faster so it makes a huge difference in what you should pack. Also, are you looking for a way to charge everything inside the camera or would you rather have a separate setup to swap batteries on the go? Knowing that would help narrow down the cheap fixes.
