I just picked up a Sony RX100 VII and I’m absolutely loving how compact it is, but I’m a bit nervous about scratching that sleek finish. I’m looking for a high-quality leather case that doesn't add too much bulk. Ideally, I’d love a half-case design with a bottom hatch so I can swap the battery and SD card without unscrewing the whole thing every time. I’ve seen some cheap options online, but I’m worried about the fit and leather quality. Does anyone have experience with brands like Gariz or TP, or perhaps a hidden gem on Etsy? What’s your favorite leather case that balances style with solid protection?

In my experience, I’d suggest looking at these two:

- LIM'S Design Genuine Leather Half Case for Sony RX100 VII: Features a built-in Arca-Swiss plate. It's technically superior and fits perfectly, tho it's a bit pricier.
- Kaza Deluxe Leather Half Case for Sony RX100 VII: A fantastic "hidden gem" with a vintage aesthetic. It offers way better grip than stock!

Both include the battery hatch access. Honestly, Lim’s is just legendary!! gl!

basically id suggest these:
- Gariz XS-RX100M7 Genuine Leather Half Case: metal base specs.
- TP Original Leather Camera Half Case for Sony RX100 VII: easier battery access.
both work, i think? gl!

+1 to what was said earlier! ngl i had a *really* bad experience with a cheap case i found online. unfortunately, the door didnt even line up... so annoying.

- cheap generic vs mid-range vs boutique
- pros: price. cons: bad fit/scratch risk
- best choice: go with mid-range brands

honestly, its not worth scratching a $1k camera to save $20. just watch out cuz some leather feels like cardboard. gl!

Building on the earlier suggestion, especially the point about fit... I've seen way too many people buy those $15 cases and end up with a jammed battery door or a scratched base anyway. I’ve tinkered with a few options over the years and you might want to consider these if you’re still looking:

  • MegaGear Ever Ready Genuine Leather Camera Half Case for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VII: This one is a solid middle-ground. I would suggest being careful with the bulk tho, as it adds more thickness than the Gariz. It feels sturdy but the leather is a bit stiff out of the box.
  • Kenko Leather Half Case for Sony RX100 VII: Way more minimal if you want to keep that pocketable vibe. It’s hard to find sometimes, but the fit is usually spot on. If you can't find exactly what you want, I’ve actually taken a DIY approach before. You can get a cheap cage like the SmallRig Cage for Sony RX100 VII and then apply some adhesive leather sheets to the grip areas. It’s not a full leather look, but it’s basically indestructible protection. Just make sure to check the clearance on the lens ring before you stick anything down. Hope you find something that works for you!
