Hey everyone! I just recently picked up the new Sony ZV-E10 II for my travel channel. I am loving the improved sensor and the 10-bit color, but I have noticed that the in-camera active stabilization isn't quite enough for my shaky walking shots. I am really looking to step up my production value with a dedicated gimbal, but I am on a pretty tight budget after splurging on the camera body and extra batteries.
Since the Mark II is a bit chunkier than the original ZV-E10, I am worried about finding something that balances easily without stressing the motors. I mostly use the 16-50mm kit lens for vlogging, but I also have a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 that adds a fair amount of front-heavy weight. I have been looking at a few models but everything seems so expensive.
I am looking for a few specific things in a budget rig:
Does anyone have experience balancing this specific camera on a budget-friendly rig? What would you recommend for someone who wants smooth cinematic shots without breaking the bank?
been thinking about your setup... whats your hard budget limit exactly? that sigma lens is chunky, so im wondering if the Zhiyun Crane M3S 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal fits your price range?
honestly, i wouldnt risk a super cheap gimbal with that Sigma 16mm lens. its pretty front-heavy and can really strain smaller motors over time. I recommend the DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Lightweight Handheld Gimbal because it handles the weight easily and safely. It has native vertical shooting and the quick-release setup is great. Its the most reliable budget option for travel work tbh.
My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.
TL;DR: Grab the Hohem iSteady MT2 Kit because it actually handles the weight of that Sigma prime without the motors screaming or vibrating. You really gotta be careful choosing a gimbal for the ZV-E10 II when you use that Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens. It is super front-heavy. Most budget gimbals claim they support the weight, but the physical clearance for the lens barrel is usually the real issue. I have seen so many people burn out their motors because they couldnt get a perfect balance with a chunky lens like that. Make sure to look at the MT2 specifically because:
