Honestly I’m so annoyed right now because I just dropped all my savings on the new ZV-E10 II and the audio is just... trash. Everyone said the internal mic was okay but it picks up every single breeze when I’m out vlogging in the park and my voice sounds so thin. I tried a cheap $15 lav from Amazon but it keeps cutting out and it’s driving me crazy. I need something actually decent but I literally only have about 70 or 80 bucks left for this month. Does anyone know a budget mic that actually works with the Sony shoe or just a solid 3.5mm one that won't make me sound like I'm underwater?

I was terrified of bad audio until I tried the Rode VideoMicro II Ultracompact Shotgun Microphone! It worked fantastic for my windy park shoots.

^ This. Also, tested a few budget setups on my ZV-E10 II recently and was super satisfied with the performance. Here's how they compare:
- Movo VXR10-PRO Compact Shotgun Microphone: Rycote lyre mount handles handling noise, and the higher sensitivity (-36dB) keeps the Sony preamp hiss low.
- Comica VM10 Pro Camera Microphone: Has stepless gain control which is great for adjusting levels on the fly. Both worked well outdoors.

^ This. Also, I totally feel your pain because I had a massive scare last summer where my audio cut out during a really important beach shoot! I spent ages researching because I was terrified of it happening again. I finally settled on the Deity V-Mic D4 Mini Compact Shotgun Microphone and it's been fantastic! The best part is the extra input on the back... you can actually plug a second mic into it later if you want. It's super sturdy and gives that deep, professional sound you're looking for. Another amazing choice is the Sony ECM-G1 Shotgun Microphone. I love it because it uses the Sony Multi Interface shoe, so no cables to trip over or break! It's so much more reliable than those cheap Amazon lavs that always fail. It fits perfectly in your budget too if you catch a small discount. Just make sure you turn down your internal gain settings to about 5 or 6 on the camera and it'll sound amazing.
