Which lens is actually better for portraits on the ZV-E10 II, the Sigma 56mm f1.4 or that huge Viltrox 75mm f1.2?

Im stuck and my sisters engagement shoot is next Saturday in London so I gotta buy something now. Budget is $500 max. The Sigma is way smaller but everyone says the Viltrox bokeh is insane... just worried itll be too heavy.

Honestly, Ive been shooting Sony APS-C for years and I am extremely satisfied with the Sigma 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary Sony E. Its definitely the way to go for your ZV-E10 II. Here is why:

  • Weight and Balance: Your camera is tiny. The Viltrox 75mm f1.2 AF Pro Sony E is a massive piece of glass that makes the setup feel front-heavy and awkward. The Sigma is much more manageable for a long day walking around London.
  • Practical Focal Length: On a crop sensor, 56mm gives you that perfect 85mm look. The 75mm is more like 112mm, meaning you will be yelling instructions to your sister from across the street because you have to stand so far back.
  • Reliability: The Sigma autofocus is snappy and works well with Sonys eye tracking. I have never had a complaint about its sharpness. Stick with the Sigma. It fits your budget and wont break your wrist.

Re: "Unfortunately, the lack of stabilization on those primes..."

  • I completely agree. I had issues with my last London shoot because I didnt have OSS and half my shots came out blurry. It was super disappointing. Quick question tho, are you shooting inside a pub or outside in a park? If its tight spaces, that 75mm is a nightmare. I honestly preferred using the Sony E 35mm f1.8 OSS because the stabilization actually saved my handheld shots.

Unfortunately, the lack of stabilization on those primes is a major letdown since the ZV-E10 II lacks IBIS. I found results werent as good as expected due to micro-jitter issues during handheld operation in London.
