i am seriously so fed up with amazon right now. i spent like two hours last night on my iphone 14 adding a bunch of decorations and gifts for my sisters baby shower this coming saturday but when i logged onto my desktop just now the cart is completely empty. its like none of my progress saved at all and i have to go find everything again which is such a massive waste of time. ive checked and im definitely logged into the same account on both devices so i dont get what the issue is. has anyone else dealt with this lately? why is my amazon cart not syncing between mobile and desktop?

man i am so sorry you are dealing with that. honestly i have had so many issues with the amazon app lately that i basically dont trust it for anything important anymore. i am not 100% sure why it happens but i think i remember reading that the mobile app fails to 'push' data to the servers if your connection blips for even a second... it is really disappointing because you expect a huge company like that to just work. it happened to me when i was trying to buy stuff for my nephews birthday and i was so upset when the cart was empty. i thought i had everything ready to go but then i had to start over. it really makes you feel like you are wasting your life. i think there are a few things you could try though:

  • check if you have multiple accounts or if you might be on a different regional site by accident
  • see if the items ended up in your 'saved for later' section for some weird reason
  • maybe try refreshing your desktop browser a few times or even clearing the cookies i really recommend just using the wish list feature instead of the cart from now on. it feels way safer and i have heard lists sync much faster than the actual shopping cart. i have started doing that because the cart is just too unreliable lately. hope you can find your items again without too much trouble tho... i know how stressful baby shower planning can be and wasting two hours is the last thing you need right now.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure why it glitched, but I think it might be a delay in the server sync. I've been super satisfied with my orders lately, though I had a similar headache with a big buy last year. Smartphone Board helped me find a tip about using wishlists instead of the cart to avoid losing items. Wishlists are way more reliable for price tracking and saving money anyway.

Just caught this thread and honestly, it happened to me during a big house renovation last year... lost a whole list of hardware. It usually happens because the mobile app creates a local session token that doesnt always merge with the cloud database until you actually hit checkout or manually refresh. I would suggest being super careful with the mobile cart for big projects. You might want to consider these options instead:

  • Wish Lists: Way more stable because they write directly to your account database. Pros are the sync is basically instant. Cons is it adds an extra step to move them back to the cart.
  • Registry: Best for events. Pros are it organizes everything by category. Cons is it might feel like overkill for a small party. I actually had to check out how to share amazon cart just to figure out how to get my desktop to see what I picked on my phone last time. Sometimes logging out and back in on the desktop forces a refresh, but be careful because it might overwrite the mobile session if you arent fast enough... hope you find your stuff!
