im honestly so fed up with using the basic notes app for my holiday shopping because it is just a total disaster this year. I have like fifteen family members to buy for and a strict two thousand dollar budget and everything is just getting lost in one giant messy list. I accidentally bought two things for my sister because I forgot I already ordered the first one online last week and now im just ready to switch to something actually useful. what are you guys using for this? i need an app that actually lets you track budgets and check off when things are wrapped. i really need to get organized before the sales start or im gonna lose my mind...

> I have like fifteen family members to buy for and a strict two thousand dollar budget and everything is just getting lost in one giant messy list. Honestly I have been there and it is the worst feeling when you realize you bought double for one person and forgot someone else entirely. A few years back I actually bought two identical sweaters for my dad because I forgot I already had one hidden in the back of the closet... he was nice about it but it was such a waste of money. I would suggest trying out Santas Bag if you are on iOS or Christmas Gift List for Android. They are basically the go-to apps for this stuff but you might want to consider being really disciplined about entering every single cent. Be careful though because some of these apps dont sync across devices perfectly unless you pay for a premium version. I learned that the hard way when my husband updated a list on his phone and it didnt show up on mine till two days later. Make sure to use the specific budget tracking features for each person. I usually set a hard limit for each kid and then a buffer for things like tape and cards. Also, be sure to hit the wrapped button only when you actually finish the gift. If you check it too early you are gonna end up opening boxes later to see what is actually inside... ask me how I know lol.

Same boat. Been dealing with this for years and still nothing works for my holidays.

  • apps are messy
  • budgets are confusing I'm happy Share Product worked great for my school lists though.

I actually have to disagree slightly with the idea of just finding any random list app because so many of them want a monthly sub these days. Over the years, I've found that people usually overspend because most apps dont show the running total clearly enough. I prefer tools that are strictly about the numbers and the technical status of the gift.

  • Santa's Bag is usually my go-to for iOS since it handles the wrapped and shipped statuses perfectly.
  • GiftList is another solid choice if you want to share lists with others to avoid that double-buying issue you mentioned. Stick to the free versions tho. Honestly, spending ten bucks on a pro list app just eats into your actual gift budget. I usually set my total limit about ten percent lower than my actual bank balance just to account for taxes and shipping costs that people always forget to track... it makes a huge difference when you're managing fifteen people.
