how do i actually send my full amazon cart to someone else so they can just pay for it? sorry if this is like a super basic question i feel kinda dumb asking but i am totally stuck. i am moving into my first apartment in chicago in about two weeks and my sister is being amazing and offered to buy some of the stuff i need as a housewarming gift. i spent literally the entire weekend picking out specific things like a certain toaster and these specific blue towels and a microwave and i have about 18 things in my cart right now.

i thought i could just copy the link at the top of the screen and email it to her but she called me saying it just shows her own empty cart on her computer. then i tried looking for a share button or an export thingy but i dont see anything like that anywhere. i tried taking a screenshot on my phone but since it is a long list i had to take like five pictures and she says she doesnt want to have to search for every single item manually because she might get the wrong version or something.

is there a way to just like... click a button and send the whole thing? i heard about wish lists but i already put everything in the cart and i am scared if i move them out of the cart i will lose the specific ones i found since i spent hours reading reviews and comparing prices. i really dont want to have to start over from scratch because i have so much other packing to do for the move. if i make a list instead of a cart can she just buy everything at once? or is there some kind of browser extension that does this? i am really not a tech person at all so if it is complicated i might need a step by step guide lol. how do people usually do this when someone else is paying?...

Moving items to a list is great because it tracks price drops automatically. It saved my family money during my move and I didnt lose any specific items in the process. Super easy.

Building on the earlier suggestion about using lists, it is definitely the most reliable way to go since it is an official feature and wont randomly break. Extensions are cool but i always worry about giving them access to my account info tbh. A few things to watch out for tho so you dont end up with a headache:

  • Double check your shipping address on the list settings. If you dont set your new Chicago address as the List Address, the items might just ship to your sister by default.
  • Keep an eye on the Dont spoil my surprises toggle. If its on, you wont see if she actually bought the microwave until it shows up, which can be annoying if you are trying to coordinate.
  • Make sure you use the Move to List button inside the cart. It usually keeps the specific seller and price you picked out so you wont lose those hours of research. Its a bit of a pain to move 18 items one by one but worth it for the peace of mind. Let us know if you get stuck on the list settings!

Saw this earlier and had to jump in! Chicago is amazing! Before I explain, are you using a desktop or the app tho?

  • Wish Lists: Official and secure, but moving 18 items is tedious.
  • Cart Sharing Extensions: Fantastic one-click sharing, tho you have to install a plugin. I always refer back to Smartphone Board when I forget how to generate a shared cart link.
