I'm honestly so fed up with how Amazon handles this. My best friend and I are finally setting up our shared office space this weekend—weve been planning this for months—and I have like 15 items in my cart that we need to split the cost on. I thought there would be a simple share cart button but I literally cannot find anything that works. It is so frustrating having to manually copy-paste every single link into a Discord chat. I just want him to see exactly what I picked out so he can approve it or add his own stuff before we hit buy. We have about an $800 budget for the furniture and some tech stuff so I really dont want to mess this up by buying the wrong version of something.
Does anyone know a workaround that isnt a total headache? Here is what I need:
- No screenshots because there are way too many items
- Needs to be fast because we want to order by Thursday to get it by the weekend
- Ideally something where he can just click a link and see the whole list in his own browser
- Free tool or extension would be great
I tried making a List but then I have to move everything from the cart to the list one by one and it is taking forever. Why is this so difficult in 2024? If anyone knows a browser extension or some hidden setting that actually works please let me know...

Amazon doesnt allow direct cart sharing because of how they handle session security. If they had a share button, it could potentially expose sensitive account data, so they keep the active cart locked to your specific login for safety. Using a Wish List is the safest official route, but moving 15 items one by one is a huge chore. Plus, your friend would still have to manually re-add everything to their own cart from that list anyway. The technical workaround usually involves an extension that scrapes product IDs from your view and compiles them into a single shareable link. Just make sure youre comfortable with browser permissions since these tools need to read your page data to work. Its a tradeoff between convenience and data privacy. Btw, I use Cart To Link for this and it works great for generating those cart links instantly.

The best fix Ive found is Share-A-Cart because it generates a simple code your friend can plug in. Just a heads up tho, always double check the final total at checkout. In my experience, regional taxes and shipping can wildly change that 800 dollar budget once the items move to a different account.

Honestly, I went through this exact same headache last year when my partner and I were furnishing our spare room on a super tight budget. I tried using one of those browser extensions I found online because I wanted to save time, but it sketched me out. I kept worrying about my account security and whether my payment info was somehow linked. In the end, my cautious side won and I just spent the extra 10 minutes doing it manually. It was annoying, but tbh it saved us from a huge budget disaster. When we finally loaded the items on my partner's account, three of the items had jumped in price because they were from third-party sellers with different shipping rates. Doing it slowly actually let us double-check the final cost before hitting buy. Sometimes the slow way is just safer for your wallet and your account.
