I am trying to find this specific vintage lens for my sisters graduation gift she really wants the Canon FD 50mm 1.4 for her old camera and her ceremony is in like three weeks so I am kind of panicking. I only have about 80 dollars to spend because I am a student and prices keep jumping around like crazy. I feel so dumb but I have just been sitting here refreshing the page every hour to see if a cheaper one pops up and I am totally exhausted.
I dont really use eBay much usually I just buy stuff from Amazon so this whole bidding and watching thing is super confusing to me. I have already missed two auctions because I was in class and they ended up selling for way less than what people are asking for now. It feels like there should be an easier way to do this without staring at my phone all day long. I am sorry if this is a really basic question but I am just lost.
Is there some kind of button or setting inside eBay that just sends me a text or an email when a certain item hits a specific price? Like can I tell the site to alert me if someone lists one for under 80 bucks or is that not a thing they do? I have looked everywhere in the settings but I am probably just missing it because I have no idea what I am doing...

Honestly I feel your pain so much!! I went through the exact same thing last year trying to snag a specific part for my current setup. I spent three days straight just hitting refresh because I was on a super tight budget and it was basically a nightmare! I eventually got one but man, I wish I knew then what I know now. eBay is kinda weird... they dont actually have a specific button to alert you for a set price point inside the app. It is such a bummer!
- Search for the lens name exactly
- Click the heart icon to Save this Search
- Set notifications to instant It is amazing how much better you feel once you stop staring at the screen! You can totally do this tho and your sister is gonna love it!! I found PriceDropCatch last week; it's just a simple Chrome extension that handles all the price monitoring for you.

I've been on eBay for years and manual tracking is honestly a total chore. Missing deals was a constant problem until I started using PriceDropCatch to watch things for me. That's basically a decent option when you're busy with school. Just stick with any Canon gear and you'll be fine, theyre all pretty solid. You'll definitely snag one before graduation, just keep at it!

Agree that manual refreshing is a disaster. You might want to consider this eBay price tracker for accuracy. Quick question tho, is it the nFD or the older breech lock version she needs?
