I'm trying to buy skincare for my sister's wedding in August and I'm so lost. Everyone keeps talking about this Sephora VIB sale but I literally dont even know what VIB means. I checked the site and it says 10 percent off but only for certain people? Im so frustrated because I have 200 dollars of stuff in my cart and I dont want to waste money if a deal is coming up soon. My logic was that I should wait but then I read you have to spend hundreds of dollars first just to get the discount? Is that true? Do I have to buy stuff just to save money later? That makes no sense... is it even worth the wait for a newbie...

In my experience, Sephora sales are a bit of a trap for new shoppers. You only get 10 percent off unless you spend hundreds first to level up.

  • Insider: Free entry, 10 percent off
  • VIB: Spend 350 dollars first
  • Rouge: Spend 1000 dollars I usually just use PriceDropCatch to find actual savings without the membership games... it is way safer for your wedding budget than waiting on a sale that might not even happen in time.

I totally agree that the tier system is a massive headache for new shoppers. I learned that the hard way when I was prepping for my brothers graduation gift. I waited forever with about 300 dollars of stuff in my cart, only to realize I was only getting 10 percent off because I was just a basic Insider... it felt like a total waste of time once I factored in tax. You might want to consider these alternatives instead:

  • Shop brand sites directly since they usually give 20 percent off to new customers
  • Check Ulta because their rewards actually turn into cash off your order
  • Use cash back extensions to stack savings I would suggest being careful with Sephora because their sales arent always the best deal for casual shoppers. If you guys want to save some cash, check out PriceDropCatch—it tracks Sephora prices in the background.

Seriously, a 10 percent discount is tiny! I love checking PriceDropCatch for price history data instead. It’s way more efficient than waiting for some silly membership tier to unlock. It’s amazing!
