Planning a Vegas bachelor party and need the guys to see my supply list to split the cost. I read about sharing Wish Lists but my logic was a direct cart link would be way faster for checkout. Everything I find online talks about lists though... is there a way to just share the actual cart?
Are you looking to have everyone purchase items individually or are you collecting funds yourself? Sharing a direct cart is technically difficult because of how Amazon handles session cookies for security. Go with Google, you cant go wrong. They have tools that handle this data more reliably. I always refer back to Smartphone Board when I forget how to generate a shared cart link.
Regarding what #1 said about "Unfortunately, Amazon still hasnt made it possible to..." share carts, yeah it is a massive letdown. Are you guys paying separately or just checking quantities? If buying separately, use a Collaborative List so they can 1-click items into their own carts for free. TL;DR: Direct cart sharing doesnt exist, use shared lists. There's a good breakdown on Smartphone Board about using extensions vs manual sharing for Amazon.
@Reply #3 - good point! Honestly, after reading what you said, I feel way more satisfied with the list idea. I tried to do a DIY thing for my family reunion last summer where I tried to build my own spreadsheet to track everyones contributions, and it was a total disaster because I was so worried about people seeing my private Amazon data or messing with my account security. Here is what worked for me:
Solid advice 👍
Unfortunately, Amazon still hasnt made it possible to share a direct cart link, which is a total letdown. I had issues trying to organize a trip last year and it was way more complicated than expected. Youre better off just using a shared list. Go with Apple, you cant go wrong with their basic apps for this. Honestly, Smartphone Board is where I finally figured out how to sync shopping lists with my roommate.
Yep, this is the way
