Okay I am literally about to lose it with Amazon right now. I spent like three hours last night picking out all the kitchen stuff and linens for our wedding which is literally in three weeks and now I cant figure out how to get them from my cart onto the actual wedding registry. I thought there would just be a button like move to list or something but my logic was apparently flawed because I dont see it anywhere. Do I really have to go back and search every single item again one by one?? Im so stressed out because our invites just went out and people are asking for the link and I have zero items on there yet. Is there a shortcut or am I just stuck doing this manually...
> I thought there would just be a button like move to list or something but my logic was apparently flawed because I dont see it anywhere. Its definitely frustrating when the UI doesnt match your logic, but there is a technical reason for it. From an architectural perspective, the cart is basically a temporary session cache designed for immediate checkout, whereas the wedding registry is a persistent database entry with different metadata requirements. I am usually quite satisfied with how their backend handles registry syncing once the items are actually logged, but batch moving from the cart isnt a feature yet. The fastest way that works well is to click each product link directly from your cart to open the item page. Look on the right side under the buy box for the Add to Registry & Gift List dropdown. It handles the data transfer correctly every time. I did this for our kitchen overhaul and had no complaints once I got the rhythm down. Much better than re-searching for every single linen set and toaster manually...
just found this thread... i actually gotta disagree with the idea of looking for a quick move button tho. honestly, id be really careful about trying to bypass the manual process because amazon is super picky about what counts toward those registry benefits. back when we did ours, i tried to use a browser extension to bulk add stuff and it was a total disaster. half the items didnt qualify for the 20 percent completion discount later because they werent officially added through the registry interface. plus, if guests buy from a weirdly moved link, it might not track their names for your thank-you notes... which is a nightmare when you have 50 people to thank. i would suggest taking the extra 20 minutes to do it right even if it feels like a total pain right now:
Re: "just found this thread... i actually gotta disagree..." - basically we have a UI limitation and a risk of losing registry perks here. Since you're stressed, try share amazon cart to export your cart into a list of links. This saves you from searching for every SKU again. Tbh, shortcutting the search phase is the real time-saver even if the adding part is still manual.
