Is there a way to just send my actual Amazon cart to someone else so they can pay for it? Im moving into a new place in Chicago this weekend and my dad offered to cover some of the basic kitchen stuff as a housewarming gift which is super nice of him. I have like 15 items in my cart right now-mostly pots, pans, and a toaster-and the total is sitting right around $480.

I am looking at a few ways to do this but not sure which is the least annoying for him. I thought about making a Public Wish List but then I have to add every single item one by one again and hope he picks the right sizes. Then I saw this Chrome extension called Share-A-Cart that generates a code but I have never used it and dont know if its safe or if he will find it too complicated since hes not great with tech. The third option is just giving him my login info but that feels like a bad idea even though its my dad lol. We really need this stuff to arrive by Friday so I dont want to mess it up. Which way is the fastest for someone who isnt super tech savvy?

Honestly, I would never suggest sharing your actual login credentials, even with family. It just isnt a secure practice. I have used a tool for amazon cart share several times when coordinating orders for my office and I am quite satisfied with the results. It is much more reliable than a wishlist because it carries over the exact quantities and specific variations you already selected.

  • It generates a simple code your dad just needs to enter on the site
  • You dont have to worry about him picking the wrong toaster model or pot size
  • It keeps your account private and secure It works well for people who arent great with tech because he really only has to paste a code. I have had no complaints using this method and it should definitely get your kitchen stuff to Chicago by Friday.

@Reply #1 - good point! honestly tho, i had issues with extensions being way too glitchy before... super annoying. unfortunately, amazon makes this harder than it needs to be. if youre worried about your dad getting confused with tech, i usually just use amazon cart share to keep it simple. much safer than sharing passwords and way faster than building a whole wishlist from scratch.

Ive tried many methods over the years and safety is always my main concern. Not 100% sure how every extension handles browser cookies, but I think using a tool like Share-A-Cart is usually more reliable than the manual wish list route.

  • Never share passwords, its just bad practice for security.
  • Wish lists can be buggy with item quantities and specific variants.
  • IIRC, some tools generate a simple code that works without him needing to install anything extra.
