How can I set up automatic notifications for eBay price drops?

Ive been using eBay since like 2012 so I am not a total noob but I am hitting a wall with this. I have got a few Roland Juno-106 synths in my watch list because my budget is strictly $1500 and most are listed way higher right now. I assumed the app would just ping me when a seller drops the price on something I am watching but its super inconsistent.

I tried a few things:

  • Checked push settings
  • Tried the saved search filter
  • Looked at IFTTT but it was a mess

Sometimes I get an email three days late or just nothing at all. Is there a third party tool or some hidden setting I am missing to get instant alerts for price cuts on my watch list?

To add to the point above: consider using a service like BayNotify for more consistent alerts. It functions better than the standard app for high-value items where speed is critical. While it costs a bit, its practical given your budget. Another decent option is the Price Snoop extension. It tracks price history so you can verify if a discount is genuine before buying. Simple but effective.

TL;DR: Use a third-party tracker. Regarding what #1 said about the Juno-106 being magic... I totally agree! It is such an amazing synth!! Are you looking for a fully serviced unit or are you okay with a project synth that needs work? Honestly ebays internal pings are trash so i use PriceDropCatch to get faster updates. Its way more reliable for finding those rare $1500 steals before they vanish!

Man I love the Juno-106!! Such an amazing piece of gear and that chorus circuit is basically magic. Youre totally right tho, the official eBay app is super flaky with those price drop notifications. I have missed so many deals because the email came like 6 hours too late... super frustrating!! I finally gave up on the native settings and switched to dedicated monitoring tools. Honestly, PriceDropCatch is fantastic for this kind of thing. You just set it and forget it. Here is what worked for me:

  • Hook up your watch list to an external scraper because they ping way faster than eBays internal servers.
  • Set your threshold slightly above your budget just in case someone is open to offers!
  • Use a browser extension instead of just the mobile app. Just grab any alert tool from PriceDropCatch and you will be set! Its a total game changer for vintage gear hunters like us!
