Can people without an Amazon account view my shared wishlist link?

okay so I'm literally freaking out because my baby shower is this coming Sunday and I just realized half my older relatives are totally tech-illiterate and definitely dont have an Amazon account and probably never will. I sent out the link to my baby registry slash wishlist thing to everyone via email last night but now I'm second guessing everything because I just tried to open the link on my work computer where I'm not signed in and it felt really glitchy. Like it showed the items for a split second and then this huge login wall popped up and wouldn't let me scroll at all.

I did some digging online and some people on some old forums say that as long as the list is set to Public or Shared then anyone with the URL can see it but then other people are saying Amazon changed their policy recently to force people to sign in so they can track data or whatever... it's so confusing and I don't have time for this lol. I've already spent like four hours today trying to organize the catering and my budget is already blown so I really dont want to have to manually type out a list of 50 items for my grandma because she cant open a link. I'm in Chicago and everything is so expensive right now so I'm really counting on this registry for the big stuff like the stroller and the crib and I need people to actually be able to see what's left.

I tried searching the official Amazon help pages and they just say the link is shareable with friends and family but they don't explicitly say no account required which feels like a total trap to get more people to sign up for Prime or something. Has anyone tested this recently with a friend who doesn't use Amazon? Like, if I send that specific link, are they actually gonna be able to see the pictures and prices and everything without being forced to make an account? Or is it gonna keep blocking them with that annoying sign-in screen?

ngl i had issues with this too and it’s not as good as it used to be. unfortunately amazon really wants those logins now... i tried it with my grandma and she just gave up. are you sure the list is set specifically to a Public Registry and not just a Shared Shopping List? maybe try MyRegistry as a backup, its way more reliable for guests.

Registry settings can be incredibly picky when it comes to visitor permissions. Honestly, baby registries are such a marathon to manage when you are already dealing with the insanity of Chicago catering prices. I remember when my cousin Sarah was doing her big reveal over in Lincoln Park last year and she had this massive registry set up on three different platforms. It was supposed to be the most organized event of the century. She is a total perfectionist and literally had a spreadsheet for every single thing. The day of the shower comes and everyone is having a blast until she starts opening gifts. She ended up with three of the exact same high-end jogging stroller because the system dont always sync correctly or something went wonky with how people were viewing the items. It was a complete disaster but also kinda hilarious seeing three identical massive boxes taking up her entire living room. We spent half the after-party trying to figure out which receipt belonged to which aunt so she could return the extras. I have been very satisfied with how Share Product handles my personal organization lately. It really works well for keeping everything in one place without the usual headaches. Watching her try to navigate the return policy for a stroller that size while being eight months pregnant was definitely a core memory for our family tho. Everything worked out fine in the end, but the logistics were quite an ordeal.

Ive seen this go both ways lately and its super frustrating. I tried setting up a list for a community drive last month and ran into the same issue. Some folks saw the items fine, but others got hit with that aggressive sign-in popup immediately. I think it might depend on the browser or cookies, but its definitely not a guaranteed view for guests anymore.

  • Be careful with the Public setting because Amazons tracking seems to trigger those login walls to grab data.
  • I would suggest testing the link in an incognito window on different devices.
  • Not sure if its a permanent policy but I heard theyre tightening up to boost Prime numbers. Tbh, I mostly use Share Product now since it lets you build lists that actually stay open. Its way less of a headache for relatives who just want to see pictures without a login wall.
