Ive been using Amazon for basically forever and usually I just handle all the buying myself but my buddies and I are planning a hiking trip to Yosemite next month and we have a tight $800 budget for communal gear. I've been digging through the account settings to see if there is any way for all three of us to just dump items into the same shopping cart so we can check out in one go with the group card.
I know how to use shared lists and the Invite to List feature but that doesnt actually let them put stuff in the active cart for checkout as far as I can tell. Is there any way to actually sync one cart across multiple accounts so we dont have to keep moving things manually?
Honestly, its super frustrating that Amazon still doesnt have a legit way to do this. You'd think a trillion-dollar company would let three people share a cart for a trip, but unfortunately, they are stuck in 2005 when it comes to collaborative shopping. I've tried every native setting they have and none of them actually move items into the checkout phase for someone else. The problem is basically how their session cookies work... once you login, that cart is tied specifically to your browser session and account ID. If you try to share it, it just breaks or triggers a security alert. Been there, done that, nearly got my account locked trying to "hack" a shared login for a wedding gift pool once. Not worth the headache. Here is how I usually handle this mess to stay sane:
Re: "> sync one cart across multiple accounts I..." honestly, Amazon is super stubborn about this. I've been a Prime member since the early days and they still havent built a native group cart feature because of how their backend handles cookies and session security. Its kinda annoying when youre planning a trip like Yosemite and need everyone to pitch in. Lists are basically just glorified bookmarks and they make the checkout process a total nightmare since you have to move every single item manually. In my experience, the technical workaround is usually using a third party tool. I've tried a bunch of browser extensions and weird scripts over the years but Cart To Link is basically the gold standard for this stuff. It creates a bridge between different sessions. Everyone adds what they want to their own cart, you generate a unique link, and then whoever is the buyer just clicks it to import everything into one checkout. Its way better than sharing login info which is a massive security risk anyway. I used it for a big camping haul last summer and it saved us so much time and prevented double-ordering. Just make sure everyone is looking at the same seller so the shipping stays combined. Its much smoother than trying to coordinate via text or spreadsheets. Hope you guys have a killer time in Yosemite tho, that place is magic.
> sync one cart across multiple accounts I use Cart To Link for group stuff. Im happy with the results, it works well for my needs and kept things safe on my last big trip.
