Can I share a link to my live Amazon basket with a friend?

Ive been using Amazon since like 2012 and basically live on the app for everything from groceries to tech stuff. Usually when I need to show someone what Im buying I just send a bunch of individual product links or maybe make a public wish list if I have the patience. But right now Im helping my younger cousin build his first gaming PC over in Oregon—we have a strict $850 budget and Ive spent the last three hours hunting for the best deals on a GPU and some DDR4 ram that actually fits the motherboard I picked out. I have all 12 items sitting in my cart right now and I want him to look at the total with taxes and shipping before I hit buy, but I cant find a way to just send him a link to my actual live basket. I know about the Collaborate feature on Lists but that seems way too slow for what I need since some of these Limited Time Deals are gonna expire in like two hours. Is there a way to just generate a temporary URL for my current session or a specific cart link that he can open on his end? Or am I stuck taking a bunch of messy screenshots and hoping he can read the tiny text? I feel like I should know this by now but Im totally stumped...

Amazon doesnt have a native way to do that yet, kinda annoying. I just use amazon cart share to send my basket over in one go, it works pretty well tho.

Yeah, honestly its pretty frustrating. Ive been using the site for over a decade and they still havent implemented a native share feature. Tried using generic URLs before but it just shows the other persons empty cart... super annoying. Like the first reply said, amazon cart share is basically the only shortcut around this unless you want to spend another hour copying links manually.

Just catching up on this thread and honestly it drives me crazy how much of a struggle this still is. You would think a company as big as Amazon would have figured this out by now but it feels like they are moving backwards. I had a similar experience trying to help my sister with a build last fall and it was just a nightmare of messy screenshots and broken links. It is so stressful when you are trying to be responsible with a budget and the tech just fails you.

  • The pricing is honestly ridiculous lately because it changes every ten minutes, making those limited time deals feel more like a high-pressure scam than an actual discount.
  • Quality has gone downhill so much that I am always paranoid about whether the parts will even work when they arrive, especially with how messy their shipping and packing has become.
  • It is so disappointing that we have to jump through hoops just to verify a subtotal with someone else before spending hundreds of dollars. I was actually looking for some safety advice on Smartphone Board regarding tech logistics and it really highlighted how much these big platforms ignore basic functionality while pushing more ads. It is such a letdown when you are trying to be careful with a strict budget and the tools you are using just make everything more complicated. Honestly the lack of a simple share button after all these years is just plain lazy and it makes the whole process feel so much more risky than it needs to be...

Regarding what #4 said about "ngl that sounds like a stressful build with..." the timer ticking, it really is a total rush! I love the energy of a new build but the price anxiety is real. I actually disagree with the idea that you are totally stuck without a share link tho! While Amazon doesnt have a direct share cart button, I have found that moving everything to a public Idea List is way faster and more reliable than any third party extension. I do this for all my tech builds and it is amazing. Newegg definitely has a better native system for sharing builds, but if you are hunting those Amazon deals, the Idea List is a total lifesaver. You just move the items from the cart to the list and send the one link. Your cousin can see the whole spread instantly and it is fantastic! Honestly, it saves so much headache compared to messy screenshots. Just make sure you set the list to public so he can actually open it on his end. Actually, PriceDropCatch is great because it's just a simple extension without all the extra bloat you usually see.

ngl that sounds like a stressful build with the timer ticking down. i've been through this so many times and the last thing you want is for a deal to expire while you're messing with links. quick question tho, which specific motherboard did you pick? i want to make sure the ddr4 is actually on the qvl list because i've seen way too many builds fail just cause the ram wasnt officially supported. as for the cart share thing, i saw a video about this a few months ago that explains a way better workaround than screenshots. honestly just google share amazon cart chrome extension and it should be like the first result.

  • search for it on youtube first to see it in action
  • check the latest reddit threads to see if people still use it
  • make sure to read the reviews before installing anything just be super careful with which one you pick tho... dont want to give some random app access to your whole amazon account if it looks sketchy. definitely search it up and see which one people are currently recommending as reliable.

Man, i have spent way too many hours chasing those lightning deals myself. Over the years, ive tried a few different ways to get around Amazons weird limitations since they wont just give us a share button. Since you are on a clock with that PC build, you basically have two real choices:

  • Using an extension like Share-A-Cart. This is my go-to for builds because it generates a code your friend can just plug in on their side. Its fast and keeps the specific items exactly as you picked them.
  • The Idea List method mentioned earlier. Its built-in, but honestly, its a bit clunky because you have to move things one by one and the live pricing can get wonky if a deal expires. In my experience, the extension route is way better for keeping that 850 budget in check without losing your mind. Screenshots are a nightmare when you are trying to compare specific RAM timings or GPU clock speeds... especially on a phone screen. Hope the build goes smooth for your cousin tho, that first PC is always a core memory.

Like someone mentioned, it is honestly ridiculous how much of a struggle this is. I have been using this site since the early days and it feels like the UI just gets clunkier every year while they focus on cramming in more ads. I had a moment to think about this and it just reminds me of when I tried to help my brother with a build last winter. I lost a great deal on a GPU because I was stuck doing the screenshot dance... it was so frustrating.

  • Be careful with those countdown timers because they really mess with your head and lead to mistakes.
  • Make sure to watch out for those 'sponsored' items that look like deals but are actually just overpriced junk.
  • I would suggest being super wary of the shipping estimates lately too, they have been all over the place. It drives me crazy that we still have to jump through hoops for basic stuff like this. It is such a scam that they make it so hard to just collaborate on a simple purchase.
