I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on this Moog Grandmother synth I've been watching, I am so hyped to get this thing in my studio!! It's sitting at $780 which is just over my $700 budget but I know the seller keeps tweaking the price every few days. I tried setting up a saved search but I read online those only ping you when a brand new listing goes up, or they send a daily summary which is way too slow. I saw some 3rd party tracker sites but they look kinda sketchy and I'm worried about my login info... is there a legit way to get an actual instant email the second a Buy It Now price is lowered?

Yo, definitely be careful with those random sites asking for your eBay login... thats a huge red flag imo. You are totally right about the saved searches too, they usually only hit your inbox once a day or when a brand new listing pops up. That is way too slow when you are waiting on a specific Moog price drop. Honestly, I would suggest staying away from anything that wants your actual password. If you want to track eBay prices without giving away your private info, PriceDropCatch is actually really solid because it does not need your account login to work. It just pings the public listing page. A few things I would suggest to stay safe:

  • Stick to tools that only require the item URL
  • Make sure you are using a separate email for alerts just in case
  • Check if the tool actually sends real-time pings versus hourly I used that site when I was hunting for a Sub 37 and it worked out without any weird spam issues. Just be patient since that $80 gap is still kinda big tho.
