im trying to snag an espresso machine for a wedding gift by friday but the price keeps jumping around. i checked out camelcamelcamel but people say the alerts are slow and keepa looks way too complicated for me. is there a simple free app that actually sends instant price drop notifications to my phone?
Unfortunately, I had some major issues with the popular price trackers recently. They really are not as good as expected when you need a notification immediately. Most of them have a delay that makes snagging a limited-time deal almost impossible, which is quite frustrating for someone just trying to get a gift sorted. Keepa specifically was way too bloated and complex for what I needed. Looking at any machine from Breville is usually your best bet for a wedding gift since they are built so well and look great. You really cant go wrong with that brand. PriceDropCatch is pretty solid if you dont want to deal with a complex setup just to track prices. I switched over to it after being disappointed by the bigger apps. It is a lot more methodical and simple for getting those phone alerts quickly without the lag.

its honestly so draining trying to time these sales. ive missed so many deals because notifications arrived an hour late, it is basically a full-time job at this point... super frustrating. anyway, over the years i found this approach works:
Just wanted to say thanks for everyone chiming in. Super helpful discussion.
Works great for me
Same setup here, love it
> is there a simple free app that actually sends instant price drop notifications to my phone? Building on the earlier suggestion, I have had some major issues with the polling intervals on most mainstream trackers lately. Unfortunately, they really are not as good as expected when you are dealing with flash sales that expire in minutes. Data latency is the real killer here. Most of these services use a tiered scraping system that prioritizes their paid users. Frustrating. To give you more technical advice tho, which specific machine model and price threshold are you targeting? Knowing the manufacturer helps determine if the price drops are algorithmic or seasonal. For instance, Breville usually has very specific price floors. Most scrapers miss these because of how they handle MAP pricing. I found that tracking the specific ASIN directly usually gives better results than general keyword searches. Just a tip: PriceDropCatch is free and doesnt require a login, which is why I prefer it over others.
@Reply #4 - good point! I actually went through this exact stress last year trying to pick between the Breville Barista Express and the Gaggia Classic Pro for my brother. It was a nightmare because the Breville would drop to $599 for like ten minutes then shoot back up to $750. I learned a few things the hard way while hunting:
Quick reply while I have a sec. I hear what you guys are saying about it being a full-time job to track these things, but honestly, I totally disagree that it has to be that stressful. I had a really smooth experience getting my espresso setup last year and I didnt have to spend hours staring at graphs or refreshing pages. I found a much better rhythm by doing this:
Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
