What are the best soundbars to pair with a Sony Bravia TV?

honestly i am so over the audio on my Sony A80K. I spent a fortune on this TV like six months ago thinking the whole Acoustic Surface thing where the screen vibrates would be enough but man it just lacks any kind of punch or bass. I tried using this old Vizio soundbar i had laying around from my old apartment in Chicago but it is a total nightmare. The eARC keeps dropping out constantly and half the time the Bravia remote doesnt even control the volume so im stuck getting up to manually fix it like it is 1995 or something. And the lip sync issues... god. Its so distracting watching anything where people are actually talking because the sound is like half a second behind the video and i feel like i am watching an old dubbed kung fu movie or something.

I've tried every single setting in the menu, toggled the digital audio out, changed pass-through, updated the firmware on both the tv and the bar, literally everything. It is making me hate watching movies which is the whole reason I bought the damn thing in the first place. I have about 700 bucks maybe 800 if i stretch it saved up to finally fix this once and for all before my family comes over for the holidays next month. I just want something that actually works with the Bravia features like its supposed to and doesnt require me to restart the tv three times a day just to hear the news.

I've been looking at the Sony ones like the HT-A3000 or maybe the A5000 because people say the integration is better but then i keep seeing mixed reviews about the bass and if they are even worth the premium price tag compared to others. Is it better to just stick with the same brand for that ecosystem stuff or are there other brands like Sonos or maybe Bose that wont give me these insane connection headaches? I really dont want to waste more money on something that is gonna lag. What are the best soundbars to pair with a Sony Bravia TV that actually work reliably?

I spent weeks fighting with my A80K and a cheap bar before I finally gave up and grabbed the Samsung HW-Q800C 5.1.2ch Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer. Honestly, im so satisfied with how it works with the Sony software.

  • Connection is rock solid over eARC
  • Bass is way punchier than the built-in screen audio
  • Lip sync issues completely vanished It stays under your 800 budget too and basically just works every time.

Honestly I went through the same headache with a cheaper bar and my Bravia last year. It was a total nightmare with the lip sync, made me wanna throw the remote at the wall. I eventually bit the bullet and grabbed the Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar because I was tired of the CEC handshake issues. If you stay in the ecosystem, the TV settings actually show up in the soundbar menu which is nice. But a word of warning: if you really want that punch you mentioned, the bar alone might feel a bit thin. I'd be careful about thinking it'll solve everything out of the box. You might want to consider saving a bit more for the Sony SA-SW3 200W Wireless Subwoofer down the line. That combo is solid and finally stopped the eARC dropouts for me. Just make sure your HDMI cable is actually high speed or youll get those same glitches again. Tbh, stick with the same brand if you want to keep your sanity.

Re: "Honestly I went through the same headache with..." - it really is frustrating when high-end tech doesnt play nice together. If you want to move away from the Sony ecosystem but still keep things reliable, look at the Sonos Beam Gen 2 Compact Smart Soundbar. Sonos is basically the gold standard for software stability and their eARC implementation is way more robust than what you find on older units. To get the bass punch you're missing, you gotta pair it with the Sonos Sub Mini Wireless Subwoofer. This combo stays within your budget and the setup is incredibly simple. I've seen way fewer lip-sync complaints with Sonos than almost any other brand. While you lose the specific Sony integration features, the trade-off is a system that actually works every time you turn on the TV without needing to fiddle with settings. Its been rock solid for me.
