According to SAR, Sony FX2 is expected to be announced in late this month. Where can I pre-order or buy this new video camera?

You can pre-order at Amazon, B&H Photo Video, Adorama.

Sony appears to be following a pattern of rebranding existing camera models with minimal changes while increasing prices. This latest release seems to be essentially an A74 with only slight modifications to the mounting hardware, yet marketed as an entirely new product.

Buy Panasonic Lumix S1 II instead.

Honestly, before jumping on a pre-order list, what is your primary shooting environment? Are you specifically looking for the dedicated cinema housing for better thermal management during long takes, or is the internal variable ND system the big selling point for your workflow? Pretty much everyone is guessing on the specs right now, so it is probably worth waiting to see if they actually include a full-size HDMI or if it stays strictly consumer-focused with the port selection. Tbh, if you are doing pro work, I would suggest checking with boutique cinema rental houses in your area instead of the big chains. They usually have more reliable info on the actual shipping allocations and might even let you test a floor model before the official release hits so you can check the rolling shutter performance yourself.

Yeah honestly I agree with 7ulmen, it basically looks like an A7IV repackage though the updated thermal piping might actually help with the readout speeds and rolling shutter. My current rig gets so hot I could basically cook an egg on the back of the LCD screen lol. I actually had to buy one of those tiny clip-on fans for my desk last week because the airflow in my room is non-existent. Spent way too long researching CFM ratings and decibel levels for a 10 dollar fan... total waste of an afternoon honestly. But yeah, just keep an eye on the major shops once the countdown ends.

Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.

Did this last week, worked perfectly

Seems just an A7IV with crappier EVF and $1000 dollars more expensive.

> Where can I pre-order or buy this new video camera? Basically, before you jump on the pre-order at the usual big retailers, what kind of glass and mounting setup are you currently running? I am more concerned about your actual workflow and technical compatibility because these FX bodies often have specific cooling vent placements or screw hole configurations that mess with standard universal cages. Honestly, if youre already using their glass, just go with Sony and you cant go wrong for the ecosystem benefits. The communication protocol for the linear motors and the metadata handling is just way more reliable than mixing mounts. But like, what is the plan for the cage and power? If the chassis depth or height shifts even slightly from the older mirrorless models, you might be looking at a total rig overhaul. Just stick with the big brands for your accessories and you should be fine, but definitely verify those mounting dimensions first before you commit to the pre-order.
