The new release DJI MIC 2 is very powerful, yet also very compact, the only weak point is it is not very cheap 😪

For the Sony FX3 cinema camera, there are several great microphone options depending on your specific needs and budget. Here are some highly recommended mics:

  1. Rode VideoMic Pro+ (Around $300) - This is an excellent on-camera shotgun mic that mounts right on the FX3's hot shoe. It provides clear, directional audio pickup.
  2. Deity V-Mic D3 Pro (Around $250) - Another very popular super-cardioid shotgun mic choice for on-camera use with the FX3. Compact and affordable.
  3. Rode NTG4+ ($269) - A broadcast-quality super-cardioid condenser shotgun mic if you want top-notch audio. Requires an XLR input so you'd need the XLR handle accessory for the FX3.
  4. Rode Wireless GO II (Around $300) - A compact wireless mic system that can be used for capturing audio directly from talent.
  5. Sennheiser AVX-MKE2 Set ($629) - A pro-grade digital wireless lav mic kit designed for cameras like the FX3.
  6. Rode NTG5 ($699) - A high-end broadcast shotgun mic with exceptional audio quality when paired with the FX3's XLR input.

I'd recommend getting either a quality on-camera shotgun mic like the Rode VideoMic Pro+ or going with a wireless lav system if you need more mobility. Add XLR mics if you want the absolute best audio fidelity. Consider your budget and portability needs.

Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.

If you are looking for professional mic, consider the NTG5: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Rode+NTG5+Location+Recording+Microphone&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50

I've had great results using the Sennheiser MKE 600 with my FX3. Tight supercardioid pattern to really focus and isolate dialogue. The switchable high-pass filter is clutch for reducing low-end rumble. You can run it off phantom power or just use a AA battery which is nice. Nice upgrade from the built-in mic at a reasonable cost.

DJI Mic 2 is the best choice, but the orignal DJI Mic is still a great mic with cheaper price.

Rode wireless mics are also great, they are cheaper than DJI mic 2.

I use Sony XLR-K3M, the result is great. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Digital+XLR+Adaptor+Kit+Microphone&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50

The Sony ECM-XM1 fits the FX3 well.

DJI is rumored to release the Mic Mini. Want to see how it compared to Mic 2.

I have ECM-XM1, works well on my FX3.

In 2024, I think the best choice is DJI Mic 2.
