> the screen is so small I cant really see my face In my experience filming in tropical humidity, the Atomos Shinobi 5-inch 4K HDMI Monitor is the gold standard for that budget. I used one for years before upgrading... it handles the 1000-nit brightness requirement for outdoor vlogging perfectly. Pro tip: always use a Zilr 4K HDMI to HDMI High Speed Cable to ensure the signal actually reaches the panel without flickering.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I had such a wild experience when I first started vlogging in high-glare environments! I was so obsessed with the data and specs that I spent weeks comparing cd/m2 ratings before finally picking up my current setup. Honestly, the biggest thing I learned is that nits are everything when you're outdoors!! My first trip was a disaster because I went with a cheaper screen that just couldnt compete with the sun, and I basically flew blind for three days. It was so frustrating! When I finally switched to the high-brightness one I use now, it changed everything... but I totally forgot to factor in the weight. My arms were dying after an hour of filming because the battery plus the monitor made the rig so top-heavy. Definitely look for something that has a solid mounting point because my first one actually snapped off while I was hiking!! It was a huge lesson learned about build quality versus just looking at the brightness numbers on a spec sheet. Just make sure you get some extra batteries because these things drain power so fast when they're cranked up to 2000 nits... you're gonna love the FX3 though, its an amazing beast!

Caught this thread today and it reminded me of my own struggles. Unfortunately, I had a nightmare with cheaper screens because the fan noise ruined my audio. Not as good as expected honestly. For Bali, you need serious brightness. They just plug into your HDMI port:
