I recently purchased the new Sony ZV-E1 camera primarily for vlogging and travel videos. I'm looking for advice on the best lenses to pair with this camera to get the most out of it. Here are a few things I'm looking for in lenses:
Versatility - I'd like lenses that allow me to capture a range of shots from wide angle to portrait. Zoom lenses would be great.
Autofocus performance - Fast and accurate autofocus is important since I'll be filming myself a lot. The lenses need to keep up with the ZV-E1's autofocus.
Size and weight - I'll be traveling with this setup so I don't want huge, heavy lenses. The more compact, the better.
The Sony ZV-E1 is an excellent camera for vlogging and content creation, but to get the most out of it, you need the right lenses. Here are some of the best lens options for the ZV-E1:
Sony FE 20-70mm F4 G - This is the most versatile standard zoom for the ZV-E1. With its extra wide 20mm focal length and 3.5x zoom range, it can handle a wide variety of shooting situations. The constant aperture is also great for low-light interiors. The only downside is that it's a bit hefty at 488g.
Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II - If you need the best ultra-wide zoom and have the budget for it, this is the lens to get. It offers excellent image quality, improved balance compared to the previous generation, and an aperture ring with de-click and lock. However, the PZ version is much more affordable.
Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G - For a wide prime option, the 20mm provides a mighty viewing angle and incredible image quality in a relatively compact package. It's great for self-filming and low-light situations, though it's not the smallest or cheapest option.
Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G - This is the best "alternative" standard prime for the ZV-E1. At 40mm, it provides a semi-wide perspective that's versatile for many situations. It's also incredibly compact and lightweight at just 173g, yet still includes a de-clickable aperture ring. The only downside is the relatively high price for the specs.
Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 - When you need a portrait lens for filming people, the 85mm is an excellent affordable option. It provides the classic flattened perspective and background separation of an 85mm focal length. For the best possible quality and bokeh, consider the pricier 85mm GM or 100mm STF GM OSS.
Overall, the best lens for you will depend on your specific needs and budget. But with these options, you'll be well-equipped to get great results from your ZV-E1 in a variety of filming situations.
One of the best lenses to pair with the Sony ZV-E1 is the Sony FE 20mm F1.8 G Lens. This prime lens is an excellent choice for vlogging, street photography, landscapes, and other wide-angle applications.
Personally I love the FE 20mm f/1.8 G and Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art lenses.
For filmmakers looking to enhance their video production quality, cine lenses are a great option:
