Ive been tracking the Sony 24-70mm GM II for a while now using the usual sites like CamelCamelCamel and Keepa but the price just wont budge from that $2298 mark even with the holiday sales coming up. Usually I can spot a pattern but Sony seems to be holding firm on this one and its driving me a bit crazy. I need to pick this up before a wedding shoot I have in early October in Chicago so my timeline is getting tight.

  • Budget: trying to stay under $2000
  • Condition: New or open-box only
  • Use case: High-res wedding portraits

Does anyone know if Sony usually does a late-September flash sale or if there are specific trade-in programs that actually stack with member discounts right now?

Take a look at this chrome extension:

^ This. Also, Id be careful about betting on a major drop before October. Sony is super stubborn with that pricing. You might want to consider the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art Sony E.

  • Way under your budget brand new
  • AF speed is basically identical for wedding work
  • Optics are killer for high-res sensors Be careful with the G Master tax tho; the Sigma is a safer bet for your deadline.

Unfortunately I had issues finding deals lately since Sony's stingy with Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II E-Mount Lens. TL;DR: Try B&H open-box to hit $2k safely... retail wont drop.

I totally get the frustration, honestly. I spent months refreshing tabs for my kit and the price just sat there... it's beyond exhausting. Sony is so stubborn with flagship glass. You might want to try a student email for EDU pricing on Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II at B&H. I've seen it hit $1998 that way. Just be careful with random new listings on eBay tho, the lack of warranty is a huge risk.
