I finally bit the bullet and bought the Sony a6700 for my big trip to Tokyo and Kyoto in three weeks but now im starting to panic a bit because i realize i have basically zero accessories. I spent most of my savings on the body and the 18-135mm lens so i probably only have about 350 bucks left for everything else and i dont want to waste it. I spent hours on youtube and everyone says different things which is just making me more stressed.

I read that the SmallRig cage is a must-have for protection but i mostly want to do street photography and hiking so wouldnt that just make it heavy and bulky to carry around all day? Also the whole memory card situation is killing me. I saw stuff about v60 vs v90 sd cards and the price difference is actually insane like do i really need the expensive ones if im mostly taking stills and maybe a little bit of video? I just dont want to be in the middle of a hike in Hakone and have my single battery die or run out of space because i bought the wrong card.

Is a screen protector actually worth it or do people just baby these things too much? I really need to know what the absolute bare minimum essentials are so I dont waste my last bit of travel cash on stuff i wont use. what are the actual must-have accessories for this thing that i should order before i leave...

Just saw this thread. Unfortunately, a lot of people overspend on tech they wont actually use. I had issues with buffer lag on older cards, but you definitely dont need to go bankrupt for V90 speeds for street photography or standard 4K video. It is just not necessary for the way most people shoot.

> I read that the SmallRig cage is a must-have Unfortunately, i bought that SmallRig Cage for Sony A6700 4336 and it made my hand cramp while hiking. Total waste. Just get a spare Sony NP-FZ100 Rechargeable Battery instead.

@Reply #2 - good point! Since you are hiking Kyoto, dont forget a comfortable strap because the one Sony gives you is terrible. In my experience, Peak Design Slide Lite Camera Strap is perfect for the a6700. It makes carrying it all day easy without the weight of a cage. Also, grab a Giottos Rocket Air Blaster for the dust you will hit on those trails. Way better than using your shirt to clean the glass.
