Hey everyone! I recently picked up the Sony a6700 for an upcoming backpacking trip through Japan, and I'm struggling to find the perfect travel tripod. I need something that fits easily inside a standard carry-on but is still sturdy enough to handle long exposures without wobbling. I'm currently using the 18-135mm kit lens, so it doesn't need to hold a massive payload, but I'm worried about wind stability. I've been looking at the Peak Design Travel Tripod and some Ulanzi carbon fiber options, but the price gap is huge. Does anyone have a specific recommendation that balances portability with the a6700’s compact form factor? What are you guys using for your mirrorless travel setups?
> I'm worried about wind stability. Curious about one thing: what's the max height ur actually gonna need, cuz going too tall with light legs is basically a recipe for vibrations? Quick tip: always keep the center column down for stability... it's a HUGE deal. Have u looked at the Leofoto LS-224C Ranger Series Carbon Fiber Tripod with LH-25 Ball Head which is way sturdier than the options mentioned yesterday?
Ok so I've been researching this too! Before I give advice, curious about one thing: what's ur absolute max budget?? I know the Peak Design Travel Tripod Carbon Fiber was already mentioned but the price is highkey scary... check these: * Sirui Traveller 5AX Aluminum Tripod (~$80)
* Manfrotto Element MII Aluminum Travel Tripod (~$110) Aluminum is slightly heavier but feels better in wind... idk. Do u prioritize weight or price more for ur Japan trip??

In my experience, the Ulanzi Zero Y Lightweight Travel Tripod is basically the best value for your a6700 cuz the Peak Design one is just too pricey imo. It's super light for backpacking but maybe be careful in high winds—I usually just hang my bag on the center hook to keep it stable!! It definitely fits in a carry-on easily tho.
