@Reply #2 - good point! I have been very satisfied with the performance of the a6700 for my daily work, but for anyone watching their wallet, the price gap between these two is pretty massive. You really need to look at the total cost of ownership before jumping in because the body is only half the battle. I suggest checking out the comparison tools on Camera Decision or the side-by-side spec sheets on DPReview to see if those extra features actually translate to better results for your specific style. Just a few things to be cautious about:

  • Avoid overspending on the camera body if it means you end up with a cheap kit lens that bottlenecks the sensor. Good glass makes a bigger difference than a newer body.
  • Be aware that Sony ZV-E10 uses the older NP-FW50 batteries, so you will likely need to buy several spares compared to the Sony a6700 which uses the much longer-lasting Sony NP-FZ100 Rechargeable Battery.
  • Dont ignore the used market on sites like MPB or KEH where you can often find mint condition gear for way less. Buying the more expensive body wont fix poor lighting or bad audio, so make sure you leave room in the budget for those essentials. The a6700 is a powerhouse and I have no complaints, but the ZV-E10 is often the more logical financial move for starting out.

if your primary focus is vlogging and video content creation, the ZV-E10 is probably the better choice with its video-centric feature set in a compact body. If you want a more photography-oriented camera that is also very capable for video, the a6700 may be the way to go, especially if you value having IBIS.

TebeAlish is spot on about that price gap... it is a lot to swallow. Last year, I took a cheaper body out on a dusty trail and spent the whole time babying it because the build felt so fragile. It really didnt inspire much confidence when the wind picked up.

  • The a6700 is definitely more of a workhorse for real-world abuse.
  • Reliability over time is where that extra money really goes. You wont regret the better weather sealing if you shoot outdoors often.

honestly, I've been so satisfied with how Sony handles their APS-C line lately. Not sure but I think the main thing you're paying for with the a6700 is that fancy AI-based autofocus, which works well if you're tracking fast subjects. Sony just seems to have a way better lens ecosystem than most other brands right now compared to what I've seen from Fuji or Canon. A few things to consider:

  • Sony has way more cheap third-party lens options
  • The newer menu system is way more intuitive
  • Battery life is supposedly way better on the higher-end bodies IIRC, the ZV-E10 is basically a budget powerhouse if you dont mind missing some physical dials. Both are solid, so you really wont go wrong here. If you need any more info on the different lenses available for these, just ask!

For Vlogging photography, get ZV-E10, or you can get more powerful a6700.
