i just got a sony fx30 and honestly i have no idea what im doing lol. im trying to vlog for my trip to japan next month but my face is way too big in the screen. sorry if this is a dumb question but what wide lens should i get that isnt super expensive?
Unfortunately, I tried saving cash with a cheap manual lens and it was honestly a total mess. I couldnt focus while walking and ruined half my footage... so frustrating. I finally got the Sony E PZ 10-20mm f/4 G for the reliability. Its pricey but the autofocus is safe. Quick tip: turn on Active Stabilization, but remember it crops the image even more!
Like someone mentioned, that crop factor is definitely whats biting you. You basically need a 10mm or 11mm lens to get a decent vlogging frame without your arm getting tired.
Congrats on picking up the FX30! It is a fantastic cinema camera and the image quality is amazing for travel! Since that APS-C sensor has a 1.5x crop factor, finding the right focal length is key for vlogging. To give you a solid recommendation, whats your maximum budget? Also, are you looking for a versatile zoom or a lightweight prime lens for the trip?
