Hello everyone! I'm currently using a Sony A6000 and I'm looking for recommendations on the best lenses to pair with it in 2024. I mostly shoot landscapes and portraits, but I'm also interested in some low-light capabilities and maybe macro photography. I'm open to both prime and zoom lenses. Also, budget is a consideration, so I'd love to hear suggestions that offer great value for their price. Any insights on new releases or lenses that have performed well for you would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
adding my two cents here since i spent way too much time looking at mtf charts before upgrading. one thing you gotta be careful with on the a6000 is that it doesnt have in-body stabilization. i learned that the hard way when i was getting blurry shots in low light. i would suggest looking at the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary if you want one lens that can handle landscapes and portraits. i swapped my kit lens for this and having that constant f2.8 aperture is a total game changer for low light compared to the variable zooms. for that macro itch you mentioned i actually went with the 7Artisans 60mm f2.8 Macro II. its super budget friendly and honestly built like a tank. just keep in mind its manual focus so you might want to use focus peaking on your a6000 to get it right. also if you want the absolute sharpest portrait lens for this system you might want to consider the Sigma 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary. its technically superior to the sony 50mm in terms of chromatic aberration control and sharpness wide open. just make sure to keep your shutter speeds a bit higher since it lacks oss. let me know if you need more technical specs on any of these!
The best lens depends on your shooting style and needs, but here are some great options for the Sony A6000:
