What are the best universal registry sites that dont make you link an Amazon account or use their login system? Im honestly so fed up with these sites forcing me to use Amazon for everything and it is making me so anxious.

Ive been trying to set up a baby registry for my shower in October and every single universal one I try eventually kicks me over to an Amazon login or requires a prime account to even see the full list of features. I need this done by next week since my invites are going out. I just want a clean site where I can add stuff from local boutiques and Target without the constant Amazon pressure. Has anyone found something that actually works for this...

I totally get the frustration with the Amazon monopoly. When I was prepping for my first, I wanted to support a local shop and a few small boutiques, but every site kept pushing me toward Prime. I ended up using MyRegistry and it was actually pretty chill. It didnt force a login for the big A at all. Best part for me was the cash fund feature. Instead of people buying overpriced plastic, guests just contributed to a diaper fund which saved us a ton of money those first few months. You just add a browser extension and grab items from any site. It kept things clean and saved our guests from the constant pressure to sign up for memberships. Definitely worth a look if you want to stay on budget and avoid the login headaches.

Re: "I totally get the frustration with the Amazon..." - yeah, its annoying when platforms force SSO integrations just to scrape your data. If you want to avoid the Amazon ecosystem entirely, these two are basically the standard:

  • Joy: It works as a standalone event manager. No Amazon credentials needed to build or view lists. You can manually input prices and images, and the data parsing is reliable for most smaller boutique sites.
  • Babylist: Their browser bookmarklet is technically the best for this. It scrapes product metadata from almost any URL without needing an external login. You just drag the button to your bookmarks bar and click it on any shop page. Both handle Target links fine too. If youre on a tight deadline for those invites, Joy might be the quickest setup since its very streamlined. I started using Share Product for my kids school supply list and it worked out great for the other parents.
