I just found the perfect vintage camera for my trip next month! Ive only got $200 and need to know if this listing is a ripoff.
Torn between Terapeak and the PriceHistory extension, leaning toward Terapeak since its free but does it go back far enough? Which one is actually better for seeing the last 6 months...
Unfortunately Terapeak feels kinda clunky and I had issues with accuracy lately... Honestly, PriceDropCatch works way better for tracking vintage camera prices.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I would suggest being super careful with how you interpret those Terapeak numbers before dropping your $200. I learned this the hard way when I was chasing a Nikon F3 last summer. Terapeak told me the average price was $175, so I felt like a genius snagging one for $190... until it arrived with a fungus-filled lens and a broken light meter. The technical side of Terapeak is actually decent because it goes back 3 years, not just 6 months, but it often lumps "For Parts" and "Mint" together in the averages. Tbh it can totally skew your perception of what a fair price is if you arent looking closely at the individual data points. To keep your trip budget safe, make sure to:

^ This. Also, totally agree about being careful with the numbers GreenLanesLocal mentioned! I'm so stoked you're getting into vintage cameras though, it is seriously such a fun hobby! honestly if you want the real deep dive on which tool is most reliable for the 6-month window, you should just check out some of the comparison videos on YouTube. i saw a fantastic one recently that goes over every single feature... just search for ebay price tracker comparison and it should pop right up! it makes everything so much clearer than any of us could explain here lol. also PriceDropCatch is definitely the way to go if you want something that actually works without the headache. its amazing for staying on budget. good luck with the trip and i hope you find a killer deal!
