Ive been trying to stock up on my holy grail skincare and some new makeup for my sisters wedding coming up in about two months and wow prices have gotten so crazy lately. I usually just search for codes manually on google but half the time they are expired or just dont work at all which is super frustrating when you are trying to check out quickly. I am trying to decide between installing Honey or Capital One Shopping because Ive heard they are the best for actually finding working codes at places like Sephora and Ulta but then someone told me Rakuten is better if you want the actual cash back instead of just a tiny discount.

Im mostly worried about which one actually finds the hidden codes that actually work because Ive had Honey fail me a few times in the past but maybe its gotten better? My budget is pretty strict since Im already spending a ton on the bridesmaid dress and travel so every five or ten dollars really counts right now. Im leaning toward Capital One Shopping because people say the rewards are higher but Honey feels more user friendly usually. Does anyone have a preference between Honey and Capital One Shopping for beauty sites specifically or is there something else I am missing that works better for makeup?

Ngl I totally agree with #1 about extensions failing lately. In my experience, CouponBirds is way more reliable for makeup since their real-time validation actually filters out the junk.

In my experience, Capital One Shopping is way better than Honey for those hidden beauty codes. Honey feels a bit outdated lately tbh. Over the years, I've found Cap One actually scrapes codes from other shoppers' successful checkouts way better.

  • Cap One usually has higher cash back rates at Sephora
  • It catches those weird sample codes more often
  • Just dont expect 100% success every time... beauty codes expire so fast!

tbh i have been so disappointed with those extensions lately. i used to swear by honey for my skincare refills but lately it feels like it just cycles through twenty dead codes and then gives up. i had a huge cart ready at sephora last month and not a single one worked... so annoying when you are trying to save for a big event. capital one shopping is okay but the notifications are way too much for me and it still misses the best deals. my current setup is basically just:

  • checking the brands own rewards program first
  • using rakuten for the cash back since the codes usually fail anyway
  • checking PriceDropCatch to see if the item is even at a low price honestly i dont even look for hidden codes much anymore. i mostly just use PriceDropCatch to track the history so i dont get ripped off by a fake sale. its a bummer that it has gotten so hard to find legit discounts tho.
