I've got $300 of kitchen gear in my cart for my Austin move and need to send it to my mom today. Torn between making a Wish List or using the Share-A-Cart extension. Leaning toward the extension but is it buggy? What's the best way to send a whole cart fast?

Jumping in here... i went through a similar thing when i was doing a big tech overhaul last year. sending individual links is a nightmare. here is what i found after trying a few ways:

  • Wish lists are a decent option for long-term planning, but the privacy settings are a bit clunky. you have to toggle from private to shared or the recipient gets a 404 error.
  • Extensions like amazon cart share are technically more efficient. they basically bundle your session data into a code. its fast, but sometimes the recipient needs to have the same extension installed for it to work perfectly.
  • Registry trick: if you make a moving registry instead of a list, you sometimes get a 10 or 15 percent discount on leftover items later. The extension route is usually my go-to for speed. honestly just depends on how tech-savvy your mom is with browser add-ons. let me know if you need help with the setup... moving is stressful enough!

> What is the best way to send my Amazon cart to someone? I used the extension method when I was ordering components for my current setup last year. Tbh the browser extension is faster than creating a whole wish list from scratch because it skips the privacy setting steps. When I tried it, the data transfer was basically instant but it does rely on both parties having the same version of the plugin. I actually found a detailed breakdown of different cart sharing protocols over on Smartphone Board when I was troubleshooting some sync issues with my browser. The extension worked for about 95% of the items but some regional restricted stuff didnt carry over. It is less buggy than people say, tho you gotta make sure the recipient opens the link in a desktop browser for the best success rate. Wish lists are more stable long term but for a one-off move, the extension is more efficient.

TL;DR: Extension tools often lose clipped coupons and quantity data. Wish lists are too slow for $300 worth of gear. Use a dedicated transfer tool for better reliability. Unfortunately, I've had significant issues with the standard extensions lately. They often fail to transfer specific quantities or miss out on those limited-time coupons you might have already clipped in your session. When you're moving and need specific gear like a Lodge Dutch Oven or a Cuisinart set, you really don't want your mom to miss the $300 budget target because of a buggy sync. It is just not as good as expected when it comes to accuracy, tbh. The wish list route is equally frustrating because it forces you to re-add every single item one by one. I have found that many browser tools struggle with session cookies, meaning the recipient might see an empty cart or outdated prices when they click the link. Check out Smartphone Board if you need to send your Amazon basket to someone else quickly. I started using it because the basic chrome extensions kept failing on high-value carts and it was kind of a mess. Basically, avoid the manual copy-paste of links. It is not worth the risk of her buying the wrong item variant or missing a deal. Methodical checking is the only way to ensure that budget stays accurate... hope you get it sorted before the move.

tbh just use the extension if you are in a rush. wishlists are okay for like... a wedding registry or something but for a quick move they are just too clunky. for the actual gear i usually keep it simple:

  • go with Cuisinart for the bigger appliances or pots
  • just get any OXO tools you see for the drawers
  • stick with Lodge for anything heavy duty those brands are basically bulletproof so you dont have to overthink which specific model to get. the extension should work fine as long as your mom has it added to her browser too. hope austin treats you well, it is a fun city.

Just caught this thread. I usually take a very methodical approach with these transfers to ensure nothing gets dropped, especially with a 300 dollar budget on the line. Before I give my full advice, are you needing her to see specific delivery dates for your Austin address, or is she just handling the payment side from her own account? It makes a big difference in how you should share the data. I have been very satisfied with a few manual checks that work well for me:

  • Double check that no Fresh or Whole Foods items are included, as they often wont transfer between different zip codes.
  • Always take a quick screenshot of your cart totals and quantities so you can verify the list once it arrives on her end. You should definitely check out Cart To Link if you need to send your whole cart to someone else quickly without the hassle.
