What is the best way to collaborate on an Amazon cart?

So my family is planning this big reunion trip out to a rental house near Bend, Oregon next month and we're trying to figure out all the logistics for supplies. There's about 14 of us in total and we need to grab a bunch of stuff beforehand like:

  • heavy duty coolers
  • those foldable camping chairs
  • bulk sunscreen and bug spray
  • some yard games like cornhole

The problem is that everyone has their own ideas about what brands are the best and I'm the one stuck trying to manage the $750 budget we all chipped into. Right now everyone is just blowing up a group chat with a million links and it is driving me insane. I spent about an hour last night trying to look for a way to just have a single group cart where everyone can see what’s already in there and what the total price is looking like in real-time.

I did some digging and saw people suggesting the Collaborative Lists feature, but from what I can tell, that’s just for making a list... it doesn’t actually help with the checkout process. Like, if I add something from the list to my cart, it doesn't always show up as purchased for everyone else right away, and it's just an extra step that feels clunky. I also read something about Amazon Household but that seems super limited to just two people living in the same house, and these are cousins and aunts spread across three different states.

I honestly just want a way for five or six of us to be able to jump into one session, look at the cart together, and say okay, that's too expensive, let's swap that cooler for a cheaper one before I hit the buy button. Is there a specific app or maybe a Chrome extension that does this? I feel like this should be a standard feature by now but I’m struggling to find a clean way to do it without sharing my actual password which I'm definitely not gonna do...

Unfortunately, Amazon's native tools are pretty disappointing for this. I've had issues with lists not syncing properly, and they're just not as good as expected for group budgets. I'd just use Share-A-Cart. It’s an extension that actually works:

  • Create your cart
  • Share a single link or ID
  • Let others add items or check prices It's way less of a headache than clunky lists that never seem to update correctly.

I saved a ton of time last summer for my sisters wedding using a tool to share amazon cart.

  • Extension generates IDs
  • No password sharing
  • Real-time cart updates Everything worked great.

> group chat with a million links ^ This. Also, the lack of real-time cart state synchronization and session persistence is honestly pathetic. Just get any gear from Coleman, it works.
