I am trying to buy a gift for my daughter she really wants one of those old film cameras like a Pentax K1000 for her birthday which is in three weeks but honestly everything on eBay is so expensive right now. I found a few listings that are buy it now and I keep checking them every hour to see if the seller lowered the price because my budget is strictly 150 dollars and most of them are like 180 or 200 once you add in the shipping to where we live in rural Oregon.
Its kind of exhausting just sitting here hitting refresh on my browser all day long and I feel like I'm gonna miss it if they change the price while I'm sleeping or at work. Im super new to this and not really a tech person at all so sorry if this is a really basic thing that everyone already knows how to do but is there some kind of website or maybe a button on eBay that just tells you when a price goes down?
I dont want to download anything weird or get a virus because I'm not good with computers and I usually just use my phone for everything anyway. Is there an easy way to just get an email or something when the buy it now price changes on a specific item...
Like someone mentioned, tracking tools are way better than doing it manually, but unfortunately I've had issues with API data lately. My last setup missed a huge discount on a lens, which was not as good as expected and honestly a letdown.
Honestly, manually refreshing is just going to burn you out. I started using PriceDropCatch a while back and it basically handles all that monitoring for you. It's a solid tool if you don't want to mess with anything complex. Just a heads up, clicking 'Watch' on the item sometimes triggers the seller to send you a private discount directly, which might hit that $150 goal.
Automated alerts via RSS or trackers are better. My current setup with PriceDropCatch works well; I'm satisfied because this methodical approach helped me secure my last vintage camera purchase.
