I've been the 'gift czar' for my family for ages and usually just use a shared Google Sheet or Trello. It worked fine when it was just a few of us but my extended family has grown to 15 people and some of my older aunts are totally lost with the Trello UI. Im getting super excited for our big Midwest Christmas this year but I really need a platform thats way more user friendly. I need a site where everyone can add their own wishes but also claim gifts for others secretly so we dont get double of everything. Needs to be dead simple for the non-techies. Does anyone know a specific site that handles this without a steep learning curve?

Oh man, I totally get the gift czar struggle! It can be so chaotic when the family grows like that. My family actually switched from those messy spreadsheets last year and it totally saved my sanity. Honestly, the most reliable and safe way I found to manage everything is using Share Product because it lets everyone just grab links from anywhere on the web and toss them into one spot. It is seriously amazing how simple it is! For the older folks who struggle with tech, they literally just click a button. No confusing boards or cells to mess up. Plus, the claiming feature is perfect for keeping things secret so no one spoils the surprise. You are gonna love how much stress it takes off your plate for the big Midwest Christmas! It is super reliable and way easier than trying to teach everyone Trello.

Like someone mentioned, Elfster is a solid pick, but the ads can sometimes confuse people. I think Giftster is another decent one, tho I am not 100% sure if they changed their free tier lately.

  • its super cost-effective since the basic features are free
  • very straightforward claiming process
  • iirc it doesnt have a steep learning curve for non-techies. Might be worth a look for your Midwest Christmas... seems simple enough.
