I really need some help because I am totally lost with the whole Sephora points thing and how their sales work. I just signed up for the Beauty Insider thing because my sisters birthday is coming up in December and she really wants some expensive skincare and makeup like Drunk Elephant and Fenty but I have no idea what I am doing. I have about 250 dollars saved up for this but I am so scared I am gonna spend it all and then see a better sale a week later and feel like an idiot.
Everyone keeps talking about the VIB sale happening soon I think? But then there is also Black Friday and Cyber Monday and I literally dont know which one is better for a beginner like me who doesnt have a high rank or status or whatever they call it. Like is the discount actually the same for both? I heard some people say Black Friday is only for specific gift sets but the VIB thing is for the whole store? I am sorry if this is a really basic thing to ask but I am genuinely stressed about messing this up and wasting my budget. Is it actually cheaper to buy during the VIB sale or should I just wait for Black Friday...

Stumbled onto this and thought Id chime in since Ive been doing the Sephora holiday hustle for a decade. Since youre just a basic Insider, you only get 10% off during the VIB sale, which honestly isnt that much after taxes. Over the years, Ive learned a few tricks for brands like Fenty and Drunk Elephant:
- Skip the Sephora 10% and go directly to the brand websites. Fenty usually does 25% or 30% off for Black Friday on their own site.
- Focus on the holiday value sets. Drunk Elephant always has those big kits that save you way more than the discount alone.
- Sephora Black Friday is usually just specific doorbuster items, not a site-wide discount. I actually use PriceDropCatch to track this stuff now so I dont have to guess if a price is actually good or if I should wait. Its way easier than manually checking the app every day. Dont sweat it too much tho, your budget is actually pretty solid for those brands!
