How can I easily share my Amazon cart with my kids so they can see what I'm planning for their big bedroom makeover? I am so stoked to finally do this for their 10th birthday next month and I have like 15 items sitting in my cart right now.

I saw stuff about Amazon Household or making a Wish List but the Household setup seems like a huge headache and I really dont want them accidentally buying stuff. Is there a way to just send a link to the cart itself? Im in Chicago and trying to keep the whole refresh under $400 so I need them to help me narrow it down...

Honestly, Amazon makes this harder than it should be because the cart is tied to your specific session and browser cookies, so theres no way to just copy the URL and have it work for them. I ran into this exact issue when I was trying to coordinate a server rack build with my brother last year. I had like twenty different SKUs for cables and mounts, and trying to copy-paste each one was a nightmare. The most efficient way I found to handle this without the Household mess is using a third-party tool. I actually used share amazon canada cart to generate a shareable link that basically exports the items into a landing page they can see. If you want to stay within the Amazon ecosystem, your best bet is to select all items in your cart and click Move to list. You can create a specific Bedroom Makeover list and set it to Shared. This lets them view everything and even comment on items, but they cant actually trigger a checkout from your account unless they have your login. I tracked my nephews room project this way and it kept the budget under control because I could see the subtotal for the list separately. Its technically more data-entry at first, but it prevents the kids from accidentally clicking Buy Now on a $100 rug while they are just supposed to be looking at colors... basically, it works if you have the patience to click through the items once.

@Reply #1 - good point! Loved doing this for my kids room!

  • Lists: clunky
  • Household: risky Cart To Link makes sharing Amazon lists so much faster than the old manual way.

Re: "@Reply #2 - good point! Loved doing this..." - i totally get the hesitation with Amazon Household. It is way too easy for kids to accidentally order stuff if the settings arent perfect. I'm usually a bit more conservative with my account access, so I actually disagree about the clunky nature of lists if you set them up the right way. Using a dedicated List is actually super reliable and keeps your actual cart private. Here is what I do:

  • Create a new list called Bedroom Project
  • Move your cart items there so your active cart stays empty
  • Use the Invite button to get a View Only link Honestly, Share Product is also a really solid choice if you want to keep the shopping experience separate from your main account. It works well for coordinating without the risk of someone hitting the checkout button by mistake. I have had no complaints using it for big family projects like this. Let me know if you need help finding the invite settings... those decor items add up fast so keep an eye on that $400 limit!
